No they always snap

Best one I ever bought was a Brodit , car and phone specific and solid as a rock , though I think they do a universal one now

Kenu airframe or airframe plus if you are looking for a really simple and small air vent holder. I travel a lot on business and use hire cars so always have one in my bag. Fits most cars and saves me having to rent the expensive sat nav. Simply brilliant and can even take an iphone 6 plus without it moving around.
Don't buy the cheap copies on ebay, get an original from Amazon. The cheap ones fall off and swivel too easily.

I forgot about that! It's the only time it's ever done it, so I think you must have jinxed it or maybe I hadn't pushed it onto the vent properly!

It doesn't damage the coating on the vents as the part that clips on is a soft rubber material.
