Just out of idle curiosity I did a bit of google image searching and that seems a bit wrong? The tiger's eye dial would usually have the crown logo and the standard oyster perpetual text, so I guess that's not original? All the bling must be after market I guess, so what stones they are is uncertain? A similar blinged up watch is shown elsewhere described as being decorated with lots of "diamond quartz". A non-blinged up President (assuming there is one under all that cr@p) would be what? - £6/7K?

I guess it could be viewed as a cheap Presidential if it sells at that sort of price and all the bling could be removed to fund the return to a half decent Rolex, but I'll be passing. :(

Doesn't look like something Rolex would produce to me. I suspect that the bling has been added and as there are huge variations in gem stones of those sizes, there could be huge variations in the price too.

Not my cup of tea but it could be a bargain of sorts if the price is right. One man's trash is another man's Picasso.

I'm not an expert but I have a bit of watch buying experience. I don't know the seller at all but for a watch like this apply the same thinking you would buying a Maserati. Without an expert checking it you cant know if its been cherished or at worst put together from bits of other Rolex's (it does happen). Hence trying to buy from a dealer or specialist you know, unless you are an expert yourself. Also I'd guess it should be worth at least £20k if good. Look on chrono24.com if you want some comparisons.

Apols if you already know all this, hope that's what you were asking. Good luck with the bid if you go ahead.

Not an expert but do have an interest in watches. Have never seen a rolex look like this and as others have said appears to be after market.
Without the bling the presidential or the datejust look very classy on a leather strap as opposed to the gold bracelets imo.

Thanks for all the replies guys, going to view it next week before the auction. I realise it is not everybodys cup of tea but it is a great looking piece to me. We are all different!
On a general question for those that know their Rolex watches, it is a 1980 made watch, would that age put anyone off?

I don't know watches but quality is quality so age would not put me off.....and like cars, service history is probably paramount. If 1980s it should have a service history.

Not if it has been serviced at a Rolex Service Centre recently, and preferably regularly, and the bracelet has no or very little slack in it
