Clearing the service light?

I have just come across this and wondered if anyone had tried it?

1. Before starting, make sure that the odometer is not on one of the trip mileage odometers but is displaying the standard odometer.

2. With the car off, press and hold down the odometer reset button. While still holding it, start the car.

3. The light should continue to blink for a couple seconds and than disappear. That will reset the light for another 5,000 miles.

4. The following are steps to change the interval in which the maintenance required light comes on. Right after you turn on the ignition while holding the reset button, you'll notice that the odometer display will show 5 bars. Each bar corresponds to a 1,000 miles. As each bar disappears, the interval will increase (0 bars = 5k, 1 bar = 4k). Release the reset button at the interval you desire.

Reason I ask is that I have finally got my QP back after nearly 4 weeks and at the last moment the dealer had to disconnect the battery and they claim it tripped the service light, I think it is more likely that as they had serviced it on the 4th December that as they didn't have the equipment to reset and that they never cleared it as promised in the first place.

There is the 3 buttons on the left of the steering, bottom left does the reset and the other two are for scrolling through.

I tried it today and that method doesn't work, but talking to my IVA engineer yesterday he says that it is a legal requirement that all manufacturers must provide the option to reset the service light yourself, is this correct?

I'll have more of a mess when I have some time.

Sometimes you have to hold the correct combination for 10 seconds at least. The Mercedes was like that. So you need to get the correct combination, and then the correct timescale.

Thanks Allan, being that this combination doesn't seem to work, does anyone know the correct combination to clear it?

Main Dealer or a specialist with an SD2/3 machine are the only people who can reset it. There is no service reset button combination like on your average Ford or Renault.

Nope afraid not, if they disturbed it then get it back to them for a reset.

They have agreed to pay for it to be reset but the main dealers are loathe to do so as they say that technically they are saying it has been serviced when they haven't done it, so I am waiting for an independent to confirm when he can do it.

Can you advise where you got your QP service light reset, I have the same problem and finding it difficult to get anybody to reset it as they say they haven't serviced it

I went to Gray Paul in Solihull, but I had to produce the invoice to confirm that it had been serviced.

Certainly when I worked for the Dealer we wouldn't reset a car that we had not done.
I'm sure if we did and Maserati got wind of it the 5hit would hit the fan.

Not so helpful video here that shows you how to do it.

:)

On a more serious note in order to fool the system until you can get it resolved and reset with an sd2/3 you could try changing the year to 2006 as the on board computer may well think its before the service is due and 2006 has the same day/date and months configuration as 2017.

If it works then you just need to make sure you change the year back to 2017 when you have it reset.

If 2006 doesnt work then try 2016 but the day of week would be wrong in relation to the date.

Worth a go as daft as it sounds.

SD3/Diagnosi only on these cars (Leonardo and other aftermarket diags can't do it). The dash computer keeps a log of the services which is why it shouldn't be reset without proof that a service has been carried out.

That's Strange Voicey as The Super Car Rooms use a Leonardo and they reset my light at my last service?

Resetting the counter is one thing but there is zero chance he'll be able to alter the service record in the memory of the NQS.
