Of course

Got a couple of packs of the rounds ones that just core drill & pop in. That should be enough. There is tons of airflow at the moment as there is no bottom soffit board at all! Too much airflow for my body temperature.

Just keeping you right, guessed you would have it covered, some things easy to miss,
I asked an obvious easy question about a project at work 2 weeks ago, they all looked at me like I had a welly on my head,
My reward......I’m running it now......should have kept trap shut.....

Haha....serves you right! I need to keep my hole shut more often and my life would be so much more simple.

I always appreciate any input from anyone regardless of how basic it might seem. Always keen to learn & as you say the simple silly things can always & are easily be missed. It isn't my day job after all.

Not done too much due to busy Xmas & poor weather as need to get the outside garage soffits done & insulated/boarded.

Built a nice little well quite big dolly for wheeling a random bodyshell around.

Rewired the lights which is useful when it seems to be dark early & most of the time!

Today I'm just filling/insulating all the massive draught spaces in between the rafters as the soffits are wide open. I was going to insulated then board up the soffit on the outside but bot sure I'll bother now. Just some insulation seems fine. Also will give plenty of ventilation rather than the doctors being completely sealed up.

The main idea was to reduce the ridiculous draughts blowing in from the outside as heating it would be futile & expensive.

Big difference between open one and one that has now been filled with insulation. Decent enough & cheap & easy fix.

Are you there building regs police

Yes, I've got one....in the shop. The way I'm going it won't be a garage for any more than 1-2 years. I'm not planning for long term.

It is just to stop the monster draughts coming in so I can work more comfortably for the next 1-2 months. After that who knows.

If my roof falls down then I'll need an umbrella! It hasn't yet and has had a real good test with all the snow loadings. It hasn't moved a millimetre which is good. If it hasn't moved or fallen down yet it never will.

Finished closing up all the rafter/soffit gaps today which worked well. Makes a big difference. Just a few more things to do over the next few weeks then I will likely be starting my TVR project a bit warmer!

Repaired & reinstated a couple of roof truss pieces I had to rip out when putting the steel in as well.

All ready for re-wiring main ring power & temp secondary glazing on the windows. Then will be boarding most of it out.

A bit more done today. Insulated the insides of both garage doors with 1 inch polystyrene sheet.

Then bought a roll of 0.5mm clear plastic sheet and battoned it on the inside of the 3 windows. The windows are old single glazed wooden jobbies and a bit drafty! Didn't see the point of going to the hassle and expense of even 2nd hand plastic double glazed windows for the garage. I never open them. I have effectively now double glazed them but actually even better as nearly secondary glazed.

Cheap effective solution for both of above. The plastic sheet looks very shiny & reflective in the pics more due to the dark & lights. Earlier in the day it was perfectly see through with little detriment to visibility inside out or outside in.

Well now the weather is better & in a more positive motivated frame of mind the last push to get the garage finished. Have plenty of spring/summer ideas for new projects including a new additional/bigger office.

Just had 25 sheets of plasterboard delivered this week with some thermal foil rolls. Going to board the non lift half of the garage ceiling and end to seal it off to keep the working part warmer/cooler. Also not dehumidifying the whole space then but just the bits I need.

My BIL is round tomorrow so all boarding should be done. Need to clear some areas today & disconnect all lights. Also remove garage door opener support to allow boarding.
