You're all a bit slow this year, we already have started collecting deposits from our group.

We are planning missing out Calais this year probably going Portsmouth - Caen

I know a little about the road around St. Malo, have cycled them a few times down and past Le Mans, might be a better idea to travel from Portsmouth and overnight to St. Malo then take some gorgeous roads to Rennes,

These were the first two days that we cycled, and we went right past Le Mans along some stunning roads: -

Our route for next year is also bypassing Calais due to the troubles.

Tuesday 13th June 2017 - Outbound 09.00 Portsmouth to 13.00 Cherbourg 3hr Hispeed
Monday 19th June 2017 - Return 17.00 Cherbourg to 19.00 Portsmouth 3hr Hispeed

Also we are going to calm things down a bit for 2017. The general consensus was it got a bit wild and out of hand the first 2 nights travelling down. We may also decrease numbers too to make it more manageable and make people staying in all SM gites responsible for their own payments and arrangement.

The base plan is:

DAY 1 Tuesday

Noon - High speed ferry from Portsmouth to Cherbourg, visiting Anse De Brick beach and then onwards and staying in Saint Vaast. We may actually stay in Cherbourg as I had night out there a year ago and it was actually very buzzing what with the marina and all.

DAY 2 Wednesday

Travel to Mayenne and stay the night local

DAY 3 Thursday

Travel down to Le Mans for the usual 5 days, staying in the same sites but moving the meeting place from Arnage to possibly Mulsanne or another bar venue North of the track as again, we feel we have done Arnage to death and its all a bit boring now. We may even go into Le Mans centre

Either way, it will be a very different trip in 2017 from the previous one.

That looks great. It'll be good to see some different scenery/bars!

OK, I have been onto Brittany Ferries and the travel details are:

Outbound 09.00 Portsmouth to 13.00 Cherbourg 3hr Hispeed
Return 17.00 Cherbourg to 19.00 Portsmouth 3hr Hispeed

If we can book 20+ cars we get a 10% reduction which is £255.60 based on 2 sharing is £127.80 each. I need to put down a deposit of £700 so I may now start taking numbers and a small deposit. Are we all cool with that? Speed is of the essence as the return ferry is filling up fast.

It might sound a lot but the mileage will come down from 1000 miles to 500 miles, saving 2 tanks/£160 on average based on Portsmouth as a starting point.

Typical. I live 20 minutes from Dover and you change the route the year I can come! Doh!

Oh well. Portsmouth it is!

I'm in for the Ferry. Have room for a passenger.
