Link for Bilstein: https://www.yell.com/biz/thyssenkrupp-bilstein-gmbh-leicester-3583759/

I got through to them on contact number : 01455 283407 though there is a different number on the above link. Spoke to David Masters who appeared very knowledgable on the Maserati shocks.

Hope this helps

thanks

Rob

As the 4200/GS skyhook dampers are made by Mannesmann-Sachs, not Bilstein, I would be very surprised if they would touch them at all!
....don't get confused with Bilstein dampers fitted to earlier Maserati's, and not 4200/GS skyhook equipped cars.

Paid 600 pounds to have my rears rebuilt down here when one started weeping through the sitting around doing nothing.
So use your cars guys :)

As highlighted by mjheathcote these shocks are indeed made by sachs. Re-contacted Bilstein Leicester, they now clarified and CANNOT refurb 4200 skyhook shocks after all!

If anyone has the part number for the rear shocks on a year 2000 3200 would be grateful if you can let me know. My trolley jack died this morning so can't get underneath.

Rear active shock absorbers pre assembly no 2116 is part no 38700010 £430 plus vat from Eurospares, after assembly No 2116 then part number is 387001010 and they are more expensive at £544.18. If you buy new shockabsorbers then you will also need to by the bottom bush as well part No 163918 which is another £62.45 plus vat

I have a year 2000 3200 and when I refurbished mine I fitted the later shock absorbers as this was one of the improvements made to later cars and the coil springs are the same. so it all fitted.

Thanks Rex, you very kindly answered my next question on the updated unit. For a little more investment the improved units are my preference. The only downside is I'll have to replace both.

There was a pair of new rears on Ebay for £650 a little while ago, not sure if they are still available or whether they are the later units but worth looking. I purchases 2nd hand hand them refurbished and fitted new bushes. I also managed to get a new set of springs when they were cheap and and so with the AC anti roll bar I thing I have the best set up and AC springs are very hard. I had a session on a track earlier this year and was very surprised how well it handled in sports mode, best of luck with your search.

Cheers Rex, just noticed your avatar my first car was my mothers 1098 Mini Clubman, as with other cars wish I'd never sold it.

So back to square one and my original question. Anyone know who can refurb the 4200 sachs shocks in the UK mainland?

It sounds like a no to me. There are various Sachs specialists like Cornering Force in Harrogate (they rebuild Sachs dampers from the Clio Trophy). Failing that I think you have a choice of PPCP or new I'm afraid.

The company down here in NZ that did mine say that the Sachs units are good and once they have modified them they can then be rebuilt in the future.
So its also good for your carbon footprint.
I know Greg at PPCP has spent time and effort to do the same so it will be money well spent with one of our forum sponsors.
