ODBII Port not working??

I had a call from the specialists earlier to say that they could not do the engine diagnostics because the ODBII port is not working and it requires further investigation...

Would this be a fuse or could the back of the port has a loose connection over several years of use?

In what way is it not working? If you can't get coms with the ECU then test every fuse - there's one that interrupts the communication line. I think it is shared with a lambda...

Thanks C and voicey. I will ask Autofficina tomorrow morning when I collect her. I have a CEL light on for a lambda that did not survive the cat change (bank 1 sensor 1), I asked them to change it so I'll see if they at least managed to turn the light off and report back.

Got my bambina back and had a brief chat to Autofficina about some of the issues. I will post a seperate thread up with the report for some help and ***** and giggles for you guys lol

The mech I spoke with said that he managed to turn off the CEL but the diagnostics did not work, the port powered on the machine however the ECU did not communicate with it. They said if the port had no power (which is what it says on their report) then it would not turn on the diagnostics machine, but what is does is the screen will illuminate but then is not responsive which they said means it is likely not a fuse. He said it is very strange and they have not seen it before but as long as it is working fine/not misfiring then I should leave it until the service when they can take a look at it again. Any thoughts?
