So my circumstances changed a little bit recently and I may need to change the car for something more practical... Found out we will have another baby next year so Maserati will have to go. As much as I like it, it simply doesnt make the case for itself in such circumstances.

Its 2009 09 plate, with about 18k miles on the clock. Dont need to introduce the car to you lot as you know all about them but important stuff is that its got
- Full Maserati service history with next service due in Dec 2017
- Gone through Shiltech pre purchase inspection when I was buying it in June and was given clean bill of health (seller tidied up minor findings)
- Its outside of engine number range that can have problems with variators.
- Spec include black on black - Nero Carbonio paint job with Nero leather and contrasting Grigio Ghiaccio stitching, 20" alloys, Bose, Comfort Pack, front sensors and Active Shift paddles
- Balance of 3rd party warranty until June 2017

I am happy to provide a lot more detail to any one who is genuinely interested.

Car is not advertised elsewhere currently as I thought I'd try to get the feelers out first here and I'm not in the immediate rush to sell. Car isn't going to be used a lot over the winter anyway so mileage won't creep up.

Price wise I think £43500 is about right for this sort of very low mileage/spec and considering you are getting forum car that has already been checked by a reputable specialist.

Haha I have seen this and put a case forward to the wife but she's not impressed :)
Reality is I'd rather not sell it as I am happy with it but my wife has other views and second baby on its way gives her a bit more leverage... I did commit to try to shift it and if there was genuine interested buyer I would but I will not lose my sleep over it if it doesnt sell as I am confident I got a sorted car with no hidden issues.

Shame you are selling so quickly. Surely better to lease a suitable family car and keep the GranTurismo?

I think you are optimistic on price (unless someone wants a very low mileage car) so keep it and get a chugger as well.

What I would say is Richard Grace had an 09 MC shift on 21000 miles for £42950 with a 6m warranty, and I suspect there was wiggle room, and having bought from him I know the warranty is not cheap.

so? different car etc. There's always a wiggle room in any sale besides someone may prefer to buy locally if they're in Scotland. Its not a rule that private sale must be cheaper than a dealer (regardless how good Richard's service is and he's got great reputation). If the private car for sale is in sound condition (as mine is as I've done thorough due diligence before I bought it) then it really makes no difference.

Not many people are going to pay the same or more for a car private over a dealer car if any. Especially Maser audiences. Most would rather pay 3-5k more for a retail prepared car with most major & minor faults taken care of. Also with a piece of mind that any faults will be resolved if they did surface in short term.

At that price as a private sale at this time of year I wouldn't hold your breath. Also did you say Scotland?

Good luck with the sale though as I have a feeling you will need it more than most

On car like this the private sale price is likely to need to be a good £3k or so less than a dealer equivalent, to cover the peace of mind and warranty advantages of buying from a respected specialist. On a private sale you have zero come back should the worse happen, so as a buyer you need to make a saving up front to compensate.

On a like for like car at the same price point I personally would take the respected dealer route as it does provide some peace of mind, however I wouldn't be overtly concerned buying private after an inspection as long as the price allowed the purchase of a decent after market warranty. Past experience has suggested that on some like this that would be between £1.5-2k dependent on company and cover for 12 mths.

It does look a nice car though

All of above plus dealer will take a px and organise finance. They are also insured for test drives etc..

Noting you are in no rush to sell I guess it makes sense to try your luck. Perhaps it's a cunning plan to demonstrate to the good lady that you are actively trying to sell the car but might be stuck with it.

If a private seller is willing to allow an independent assessment and ensure there is a strong warranty, I would much prefer to purchase from them at 500-1,000 less than a Dealer.

Where repairs could be an issue and the car was not purchased from a Dealer, most dealers will still fight for your custom on the repair/warranty work alone. Otherwise there is not a wealth of other benefits.

This is true, I am talking on the position of being fortunate to have the cash. Generally the Dealers premium though is not due to finance arrangements or even p/x but warranty, overheads and of course their bottom line.
