What oil do you think is best and what volume is needed?

I would go with what your owner's handbook recommends. From memory it's Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 and around 9lt but I would check first

That's the correct oil for a 2008 GT. Not stocked in usual outlets, plenty on line, but to save faff I got mine from Dick Lovetts

Yeah shell 5w40, can get online for under £20 per 5L
