Handbrake question 4200 and QTP

Hi all. Anybody know whether the handbrake in the QTPV is better than on the 4200? We all know the 4200 one is next to useless but I've not heard the same about the QTPV. The interesting thing is that the backing plate, shoes, springs and adjusters are the same on both cars. The control lever, the bit that actually moves the shoes, is different on the QTP and looking at a couple of photos it looks like it could be designed to apply more force for the same amount of movement. Just a thought that this could be a possible upgrade. The same applies to the GT as well actually, except that it is electronically operated.

Was useless on my QPV as it was on the 4200 and the 3200. The EPB on the GTS is even worse!!!

Maserati are not famed for their Handbrake design that's for sure.

Mine works fine. When I had the SM disks fitted, I also had new hand brake pads and cable fitted by my local Alfa Romeo specialist. It can be done. He said it was just like setting up an Alfa.

I know what you mean about the 4200 hand brake, it's OK in Warrington but not in Blackburn, didn't matter how much pulling I did on the handbrake it rolls back on a big hill, doesn't help when people stop a foot from your back bumper either

Probably due an adjust, Darren. It wasn't that bad when I had it. I used it in Italy

It's SORN for the winter but once I get it back on the road I'll get it looked at , it only happened on a big hill but it was an interesting moment trying to balance handbrake and revs so I didn't end up stuck in the grille of a transit van

The handbrake design on these is pretty much like my 50 year old Alfa Roundtail was, the adjustment procedure is certainly the same, it was good on my Alfa when set up right but definitely not up to the job in modern terms
