Great cars. Not sure I'd pay 45k for an N400 though.

Seen 3 for sale very recently in main dealers. 2 manual and 1 sportshift.
£50k or thereabouts. Not discounting and they will sell at that money. I will be in an Aston in very near future but it will be a main dealer car. Like Maserati service history and miles important but premium paid for full main dealer history as opposed to specialist.
Dealers shouting for stock and trying to buy in to meet demand. Even big mileage cars they will buy in if they have good history.
Good cars selling in days. Missed a N420 which was sold in 48 hours from main dealer.

I am, however waiting for the right car at the right price too come along, tbh at the moment I am thinking BMW 335 Estate or Audi S4 Avant and a Lotus Elise....

Unless a Med Blu GTS appears from somewhere............
Sounds like a good idea. Driven a couple of fast Audi's (not R8 though) & they never really grabbed me. A fast estate then little sports car sounds lime a good combo. I still have this TVR itch I haven't scratched yet which is still lingering.

That doesn't surprise me as N420's don't seem to come up often and are holding their value pretty well. That one had the standard carbon seats which for some reasons lots had been spec with the normal seats which defeats the reason for the "lighter" N420 over a very standard car. See one with the carbon seats then snap it up as it will be the one that people will want and probably hold its value better.

I owned a CLS55 in its day which I had tuned by DMS. 600bhp and I v maxed it at 206 mph. Great car and I also had a SL55 which was most likely the best GT tourer. Went across Europe a few times. I loved the 55 engine and the way it delivered the power.

I agree. That 55k supercharged engine is a cracking unit. I've had an SL55 and an E55k estate as well. Never had a CLS but always loved the shape & looks a bit more modern than the E class of that age.

I found the E55K estate had so much more traction than the SL55 which got silly sometimes as you could never get the power down very well.

I don't really need another fast comfy saloon as have the QP but at 11k it would be hard not to.

Was it expensive & lots of work to get to 600bhp? Mainly a pully & remap I guess to get to 550ish?

Personally I'd go with the GTS.

I've only met you briefly a couple of times... but you are the most indecisive person I've ever known when it comes to cars?!

Thankyou!! I thought it was only me who thought that. We just want you to be happy Dave...
Buy a GTS, stick an x pipe on and just enjoy!

1 month into ownership (2 weeks of which were with a California T) as my 30 was in for an extended service.
I can report back that- The N/A Cali sounds better than the T (markedly). The tone is better (I didn't like the turbo) , and pops and crackles much more pronounced. I don't know where the 64 bhp goes, but there is no real world difference in speed. ( even published figures say 0.1 to 60 difference). It's personal opinion but I prefer the look both interior and exterior of the 2013 version. Aside perhaps from the front wings.
The tech inside is similar- except the T I had didn't have a CD player.
I know I had made the right decision when I was pleased to give back the T and get mine back- the delivery day said the NA one sounded way better....
They gave it to me hoping I would be keen to upgrade but it had the opposite effect- I was left feeling like I had an extra 50k in my pocket and a car I loved which is unusual for me.
Also the red/ tan T was too much for me- very in your face.
I have had 4 adults in it on several occasions and my daughter in the child seat loves it-
So all negative comments about back seat size unfounded.
I can guarantee all occupants have had legs!
The convertible option has just been fantastic lately.
The only downside (for me)- is the inability to change the exhaust setup due to a 2 year warranty..
But that will probably save me 5k. It sounds a lot better after getting it back which is odd!
The only other car I would quite like alongside it is a gunmetal grey or black strad with a mental exhaust set up.
Will have to see how the next few months goes- and if I can convince my wife that it would be a good car for her to use for work :D

It's always good when people like expensive cars they have bought! I prefer n/a engines too and it's interesting that Ferrari seem to have got the motoring press onside with their moves to forced induction but Porsche have not done as well.

Agreed bob. I was anxious about spending 6 figures and not being happy at the change. VFm wise though the MC Shift was mentally good.
I am suprised they have got people onboard with the turbos. I am no car expert but for a petrol head - the NA one is different league. To expect people to spend 50k more for the new model will just rely on vanity and not common sense or enjoyment.

And I am planning to take a leaf out of your book with this one bob- no changes in 24 months at least. Fingers crossed

LOL, give it a go. I ran around like a madman having loads of cars in my thirties but then I realised how big dealer margins can be and also how depreciation slows to a trickle once cars are over five years old. Now I run four cars but I keep each one a long time and the costs are ok.

A friend bought a brand new Cali and when he picked it up it was parked right next to a 2 year old none-t (is that the 30?) that was advertised for 60k less than he paid for his. I'm pretty sure if I was in his shoes I'd have been feeling a bit upset.

I agree mate/ It's mental- I have just come back from driving it today in the sun with the top down.
I cannot believe the criticism that Chris Harris gave it in his reviews- and agree with almost every other car expert who reviewed it online. Brutally quick, looks and sounds fantastic and holds its value well. I am suprised at the price difference to the T -but I think that is closing . The turbo just doesn't sound as good.
I still want a reason to buy a maserati again so I am watching their next move with interest!
