Granturismo purchase advice

I've been eyeing purchasing a Granturismo for a while, and have been moving closer to pulling trigger on it, and had some queries.

- Do the autos fetch higher prices than the MC shift ? Which are considered more desirable ..?

- In the colour combinations, are there colour combinations which are ones to avoid for resale? The blue /cream or tan leather is what my wife thinks looks great (and best chance of getting purchase approval ;-), I like the Grey and Tan leather like the Nuvola one for sale.

- If it is going to get used for 6-8k a year, is it still worth paying a what looks like £6-8k premium for a top notch immaculate car from one of the specialists ?

- In terms of age, decent 2012 models look like £50k, nice 2008's around £36-40k. Is it worth buying the newer ones, are they likely to be any better electrically and otherwise? The other consideration seems to be that the cheaper facelift versions are £55-60k.

-Are there any reputable specialists in the Somerset area ? I've heard of one in Exeter (not that close)

Any help/advice much appreciated.

I would say as a rule, no but the 'SPORT' series 2 were mainly all Autos (the odd MC Shift) plus the Stradale in 2 and 4 seater form were all series 2 with MC Shift
I belive for the final runout model series 3, they will all be auto.

There is an awful lot of black ones out there. Nothing will affect prices but obviously quick sale will be the better colours. Most popular seem to be black, white, grey, blue and the odd red and yellow. Avoid hideous colour combinations

Well, you get a warranty so that is some piece of mind but personally, I would buy from an enthusiast...somebody that has loved the car and avoid cars from the bulk/budget trader outlets or a Maserati Specialist, maybe worth giving Richard Grace (Dicky) a call and he will assist you with your search.

All are pretty much the same. You could argue that age will fatigue items and the undersides are known to, how shall I say this kindly, 'tarnish'. The MC Shift, is personally my favourite but you will have to pay for a clutch and the Autos obviously dont need them. A clutch is about £3k. If you are doing a lot of traffic, I would recommend a SPORT series 2 Auto (facelift) if more of a weekend weapon, a series 1 MC Shift or Series 2 Stradale if you can stretch to it.

Emblem are close and Ftech are not that far either and would have no hesitation in recommending either. They are forum sponsors on here and thus know their reputations are open to discussion and thus go that extra mile to look after you. Whatever you are buying, get it inspected by an independent first.

Good luck.

Lovely car, can you send some interior pics? Is it an auto. I have had a 4.2 auto in blue oceano for 3 years with cream and I have really enjoyed it. I'm going to sell at some point for a grancabrio. I missed one at Maranello that in blue/cream with the extended leather.

I think they are great cars and hope you enjoy it.
