I have a Dell 2 in 1 I bought on a whim but never really used it, never been out of the house

It's a dell 7275 a bit under your screen size at 12.5" but its a touch screen 2 in 1 with a keyboard

the only issue with it is I managed to trap the charging wire in the mechanism of the reclining sofa and sever it so it's been crudely joined back together but it's on the low voltage side

still under dell ProSupport to 2019

We will have some I'm sure. I'll check.

Best thing you can do is get an HP EliteBook 8460p or 8740p. There will be loads on EBay for 100 to 150. Buy an i5 Quad Core....will likely be 2nd or 3rd Generation. If you upgrade it to 8gb and stuff an SSD in for about 75 quid for both it will perform like a new 750 laptop & fly along quite nicely. We do this very thing a fair bit. However a stock 7200 rpm hard disk with 4gb ram will still be fine.

A couple of years ago I needed to replace a Lenovo X301 so bought a sparkling new high end Lenovo X1, sent it back within a week, fast but was missing a lot of what a business computer really should have had.

So I did the same with a second hand Lenovo T420s i7 14", installed 1GB SSD and 16GB ram also had onboard Nvidia graphics for CAD and a real keyboard which made a massive difference for ease of use. Also stayed with Windows7, since Windows 10 was not productive. Can also get a docking station for £30 to link to multiple monitors if necessary.

Both are very good ideas, the HP 8460 looks like a good machine for the job. Thanks.

Good choice. I've just had some more HP 2560p, 8460p & 8470p's come in & most are sold already. Great machines with 8gb Ram & an SSD.

Dell are great business laptops but a little pricey. If you can get hold of a refurbished one I would recommend it.
I am looking at anti virus stuff now having ditched Kaspersky following bad press. It was free via Barclays bank. and was good. Now using Rapport(?) free from Santander as a stop gap - jury still out on this one

AVG all the way. And it's free!

If it runs windows 10, just use the built in antivirus from Microsoft.
It will probably give you the same level of protection of kaspersky and will only open up your computer to the American NSA instead of the Russian FSB :)
