Ready to buy a GTS

Hi everyone - first post here. I'm currently the owner of a Porsche 997 C4S Cab, a car I bought as my first real 'treat' car, and one I have loved every day for 3 years. I spent a bit of time on the relevant forum and ended up buying privately from a forum member - something I have never regretted.
But the moment has come - its trade in time, and for 2 reasons it's the Maserati GTS I'm looking at. Firstly because I have 2 kids, and the rear of a cab 997 is not a place you want to spend time, and secondly because EVERY time a GranT passes me I drool.
Budget is tight, and there seem to be few choices out there right now, but as a start I'd love some help knowing what features are standard, and therefore what optional features are must have or nice to have.
On my 997 the must have was sports exhaust, but i think the standard noise on the GTS has the covered!
This any good?

Hi and big warm welcome.....The redline car looks cheap for a 4.7...do a search on them first though as although I have never dealt with them I believe there has been a few unhappy customers on the net but if you get the car independently inspected and the deal is right then go for it. A few k more can get you an MC shift car which seems to be more popular. Later the full auto that you are looking at gain a better MC Auto box which some say is the perfect box for the GT but they came on the facelift cars and are still the best part of 55/60k.

I would also give Dicky Grace a call....a very respected specialist on here that many SMers have bough cars from and even if he doesn't have a car he will love to chat and give you great advice to help you find the perfect car.

Either way you will get great advice on here to help you.....

The other two specialists worth a look at is Nuvola and ADG.

Hello Charlie. I've got a GTS you can have if you want it. It's bloody gorgeous. Obviously, there'll need to be an exchange of money involved. It's an MC Shift with 48k miles and it wants for nothing at all. Loved and cherished it's whole life and is a joy to drive. It looks like this:

Get this one. Assuming Crud is asking sensible / budgetary money. We know where he lives :)

Welcome and good luck with the search. There are plenty of good cars out there and much good advice.

In the meantime, if you are planning on selling your Porsche, send me the details. I have a friend currently looking for a 997 cab.

For VFM you won't get better than this one. Well looked after, great colour combination and sounds divine with an X. Test drive it and laugh in the face of the Porsche sports exhaust...

The redline car is an auto, Crud's is an MC Shift. If you're using it daily maybe an auto is preferable (maybe), but if this is a toy / "weekends and high days" car (love that latter phrase, only saw it quite recently) you DEFINITELY want a MC Shift. Even with the added maintenance of a clutch every 30,000 miles or so.

I had an MC shift and it used it as much as I wanted in traffic and daily commutes to work and loved it. Test drive both- and you will immediately know which one is for you. Matt hasn't stopped smiling since buying one - and I loved everyone moment in mine.

I use it in manual all the time and even in traffic. It's only pulling a paddle, hardly hard work. The mrs tends to leave it in auto around town but I see no issue with it at all.

Ive seen it, photos don't show peeling laquer, not the best tbh but they may sort out that and the gravel rash....

Adams would be a 100% better bet !!!

Agree with Dave. It's a no brainer. Adam's looks better, is an mc shift, lower miles and probably wouldn't be too much more Expensive for a quick private sale.

Thanks guys. Reached out to Adam to see how far off my budget his car is. Means selling the porker privately as well which doesn't help.
Redline seem to me to have a good rep, but cautionary points noted. Their car needs new front discs which they will do, and I will ask re paint and other finishes that need doing.

Can you send me the details on your Porsche. I have a friend looking for a 997 cab, so if yours meets his needs a quick deal may be possible.
