Garage floors - tiles or epoxy?

Nice looking for sure. Looking forward to seeing your floor too mate- mine definitely needs doing.
What do most people do with the walls? Just paint or dot and dab and insulate?

I'm just painting my walls with a smooth masonry paint. Was blooming hard work today getting the first coat done, but hopefully will look smart once finished with the epoxy floor...

My old man got a specialist paint firm in that sprayed the block walls in his old factory with a white base paint containing several fleck colours. It was 2 coats and done very quick. Wasn't cheap but not expensive either & would have taken a couple of weeks by brush I'm sure.

Painting blocks is hard work as they are often a pretty rough surface & suck lots of paint.

^^^^^^ I now know this to be V TRUE! I completely underestimated how long it would take and what a pain in the ar$e it would be.

However, I'm hoping once I've done it, and it all looks neat and tidy, that it will give me an added satisfaction knowing the wallls were painted by me and the kids...

Almost indentical size / set up to mine.
I painted one and a bit walls before giving up.
I was thinking of getting it all plasterboarded with dot and dab, then painted, plasterboard the ceiling, put spots in and get the floor done in ? Epoxy ? Tiles.
It will transform it from a **** dusty dark place into something quite sharp I hope.
Need to finish the house first before doing it.
Would really appreciate tips on how its going Jon.

Sorry wish I had told you before! Always good fun painting it with your kids & the self satisfaction of doing it yourself is also good.

I think mine is about 8m x 7m so bad enough boarding it! I'm certainly not painting the blocks. Don't mind painting the boards after as they can just be rollered.

Yep - thats what I thought - board much easier to paint /chance to insulate (for what its worth?) and would look 'crisper.' Did you board any of it Rockits?

I have yet as need to get my roof trusses modified so I can get my 4 post lift in but will definitely board it for sure. It can be a thermal & moisture barrier & boards are cheap enough so makes sense in my book.

Am also going to board the ceiling as well then insulate & board above for storage. I have full height pitched roof so it will be better after doing this.

Agree. I thought it would reduce the chance of damp and make the place feel a bit more robust.
Toying with the idea of extending it to fit 3 cars, I presume the block work wouldn't be too costly, but extending the tiled roof and pouring the concrete foundations may be a ballache.

Agreed on both fronts. I am toying with the idea of extending mine as well. Might do a wooden frame stud framework and shiplap boards though for this bit as I can do myself. I have a 6m x 3m polytunnnel in the tarmac base area next to the garage at the the moment so ideal really & perfect for one car. Will do flat roof with slight pitch onto wall plate to gable end wall so easy/cheap enough.

That sounds a good plan - perfect for you to extend - not sure mine would be so easy. Would love to see photos.

It is indeed much easier & cheaper for me I would say with what I have. I will get some pictures up as soon as I can.

This is my current disgrace for a garage!!
Talk about needing TLC...
My house is still a renovation so lots of stuff gets dumped in here.
I will be interested to see how yours goes jon. tips greatly appreciated.
I got a quote for 400 to retro fit a motorised door so might spend what I save on internal mods.
