Thinking of buying a GranTurismo 2007-2008

Over 100k miles?
I am amazed he managed to sell it for over 21. if he had flipped it for 28+ it would have had to be to someone in a mental health home.

I would have thought you could get a good 08 4.2 GT with less than 60k miles for 23-24 on a private sale if you bargained hard.

Agree. Really good value at that mileage (sub 60) if speed isn't an issue. They still look imposing and most people wouldn't believe that purchase price. The only thing is that you can pick up decent MC Shifts now for low 30s so I think the 4.2s will have to keep heading slightly south. Not sure who could consider buying a 4.2 near the 30 mark.

House move first Phil... and at the rate they are depreciating now I may be able to get an S or MC and also a 4200 or QP as a 'classic' if I sell the GS as well.

A Maserati will be chicken feed compared to your house renovation! Run them in parallel :)

From the photos, cosmetically it looked great. It had full dealer history and I think was only one or two owners. Whether the buyer was able to flip it and at what price, I have no idea. Not seen it advertised since.
The sentiment here at the time regarding this specific car was mainly lamenting that in UK, values of 100k+ cars can fall off a cliff.
I appear to have been lucky with my car. The cosmetic expenditure was my own choice. I only paid £20k and change. The asking price started at £28k. Three owners, full main dealer history.
The only question in my mind is, how much further can prices drop for this model. But, it's largely moot as I intend to keep it.

I like the look of the dark red 4.2 GT at Essex Prestige. 50k miles, full history and a warranty, all for about £25k.

You'd be paying maybe £10k more for an equivalent mileage 4.7 and I can see why many people wouldn't need the few extra bhp. There are plenty of Maserati drivers for whom style and comfort wins over speed and loudness.

Like that one too.

The performance of the 4.2 Is fine unless you live in a quiet area where you can use extra poke a bit more but the 4.2 is hardly slow and still looks great. £25k ish for an impressive weekend car, why not?

Shhh... I think that car looks great to, a classy looking GT rather than pretending to be a sports car.

If the house move comes off then maybe....

I think you got a good deal there. I agree at close to 20 they are unlikely to drop much more. If it didn't need a ++++ load of work doing you grabbed a bargain. I agree with Ewan re a 50k one for 25 K at a dealer.

It would be a 25k car that looks 50k to most people - and with your knowledge of the brand and contacts you could run it for a reasonable cost. Period conversion +GS + GT + 4200. Not bad at all

Agree. My favourite colour combo for a 4.2. A very classy claret that I think you only see on the early 4.2s so will be quite rare.

Where? I only see one sub £40k and that's at £38,950.

Agree if you look at AT Phil- but what they are advertised for and what they get are different. Beau bought his for very low 30s and stuart couldn't sell his great example privately for 35.
There are deals to be had out there. Most are overpriced at the specialists- with good bargaining and a bit of luck there will be several 4.7s around for low 30s -especially privately.

As a guide, I have just been offered a 2011 MC-Shift in dark blue with tan interior, 41k miles, full main dealer history, full Sportline carbon pack, for £36k. It has a brand new MOT, new service, and an independent inspection.

It's easy to buy a 4.7 GT for mid thirties now, but most are auto versions. Private sales are cheaper but harder to find. But that's where the forum and the owners club become useful.

Just looked on PH. For equivalent age/mileage cars, the MC-Shift certainly commands a premium over the auto. More rare, as well. So don't panic Phil.

Thats a bloody good deal with nice spec/colour combo.
I sold mine 2 months ago 1 year older, same miles for almost 10k more.
