Modern Classics needs... A blue Maserati GranSport

Hello all – Modern Classics is in need of a Maserati GranSport for a forthcoming issue of the magazine. This request is a big ask, and suits cars for which mileage isn't a concern – or letting a journalist (me, in this case) borrow it for a few days – given the nature of this particular feature (more on that later, though for competition reasons I can't go into too much detail here). This would be ideal for a dealer car, if anyone's reading.

We're looking to borrow the car for a total of three days from Sunday November 5th to Tuesday November 6th. I'd pick the car up on the Sunday (or earlier if preferred) and return it on the 7th, and we'd clean it before we handed it back. It would be fully insured by our publisher for the entirety of its time with us.

Given the nature of the season we're trying to go for a bold blue colour to really stand out against the dark greys and greens of autumn – so while we've had offers of fantastic grey/black cars, I'm afraid in this instance we're going to have to say no. If you'd like to appear in the magazine's Your Drives section we can do that.

The final thing to add is that the starting point for the feature is Manchester, and the shoot itself would add around 200-250 miles. Ideally a local car to Manchester would be ideal as it would keep the mileage getting to the photoshoot down. Those wanting firmer details, please feel free to PM this account or the nayf account on here, just let us know which below!

If a dealer/specialist lends us a car we're more than happy to provide a big thankyou in the mag.

This is a big ask, I know, but trust us this will be worth it!

Thanks,
Nathan Chadwick

Can't offer to help as my car is silver, but as someone who reads every issue I can say I'm looking forward to seeing one of these (finally) making it into the mag. Hope it's a good example with the geo sorted. If you don't like the way it handles then there's something wrong!

My GranSport MC-Victory is blue and in storage in Leicestershire. It could be available, but maybe you'd not want an MC-V as its value is a fair bit higher than a normal GS so it might not suit the article. Have a think and let me know. Maybe PM me your telephone number and we can chat.

Hi Ewan, I did consider an MC Victory as Dicky has/had one and is fairly close to Manchester but the GS is part of a three-car feature at a certain price point, and an MC-V is significantly more.
Pity as I'm intrigued by how different it feels to a normal GS, in particular with regards to the slightly different steering rack.

Thankyou for the kind comments! It's a long time coming. [plug]The next issue has something of an Italian flavour, and 4200 owners will find it very interesting. It's out on November 1st. [/plug]

Not only but also: I'm expecting some hostility from 3200 owners ;)

Just out of curiosity how does a shoot like this work, Insured obviously, fuel, what about if something explodes during the 250 miles, do you just get the AA man to drop it off with a bunch of flowers.

Seems weird they want it for the weekend... I'm happy to let mine be used for a day but not sure if let it go for a weekend. Fair play to people for doing this....

Yep, it's a slightly different format to the straight road test and an ambitious shooting schedule. I can explain via PMs for commercial reasons – I will admit, however, that this isn't one for everyone.

Would you like to star in our Your Drives section? Drop us an email to editorial@modernclassicsmagazine.co.uk and we'll get something set up. The same goes to anyone else who fancies showing off their metal!

have you considered a wrap?? you could buy a good GS in whatever colour it comes... wrap it for around 1k then unwrap at selling time. yes it is non recoupable but in my way of thinking kind of pays its self off in paint insurance and is what i will be doing with my next car!

Not sure our finance department would sign that off, sadly...
