Hi Guys I am new to the fold an hopefully will be perhaps purchasing a maserati granturismo in the next few months. I have been keenly reading the forum and taking in advice, i am hoping to get clean GT ideally a MC shift but happy to consider all if the cars in excellent condition. One thing I have noted is that there is a large variation in price, I am looking to buy one from trade and the names that keep coming up in the forums are Giallo, Nuvola ADG Sevenoaks and Dicky Grace. Their cars are usually priced at a premium .. I was wondering if everyone has had positive dealings with them and also would you still have a vehicle inspection if you were purchasing from them and should I be getting a warranty for the car on purchase or who would you guys recommend??

Thanks for all the advice in advance and hope to be joining your ranks very soon!!

Hi, welcome to the forum.

I suspect others will come along and give their thoughts, but my own view is it depends on the budget, the car, and how you feel after speaking to them.

I bought my car, unseen, through Dicky Grace, and relied almost completely on the fact that a) he had a great reputation (both on here and with personal friends of mine), and b) every time I had spoken to Dicky (which I did a few times before I bought the car) he came across as completely trustworthy & honest.

Having done this once, I would do it again in an instant with Dicky.

I would probably have been willing to do something very similar with Nareman @ Nuvola, as when I visited him to look at a couple of cars, he came across as a great, honest bloke with a clear passion for and interest in the brand. He also wasn’t trying to sell me his most expensive Granturismo, but was listening to what I said I wanted...

Another vote of complete confidence with Richard Grace, a very honest honourable chap to deal with.

I also bought my Maserati from Richard Grace. I knew very little about the marque but knew my budget and what I wanted from a model - initially keen on a Gran Turismo but realised through Richard that the cars in my budget would not tick all the boxes for me. Then he helped me understand 3200, 4200 (pre and post facelift model) and the Gransport.

I found him straight, honest and felt at ease with him from the phone calls and meeting him in person.

I bought my Gransport a little over a year ago and still keep in touch for a chat.
His cars go through an inspection at Autoshield Maserati, he prepares them to a high standard and one thing I learnt talking to him and Marios at Autoshield is to get a properly sorted car from the outset.

I also exchanged mails with Voicey (AV Engineering's Aldous Voice) who I knew from my time looking for a Ferrari 360 who gave me valuable advice when I was in a conundrum over the 4200 v Gransport argument in my head and the price premium for the GS.

I decided on the GS and bought through Richard Grace.

Others will be along but that's my route to Maserati if it helps.

Yes get a GT MC-Shift. And yes, if it's your first Maserati, buy through a well respected specialist such as Dicky or Nareman. From them they will come with a warranty. Such a car, from them, with an inspection, warranty and service will cost around the £40k mark depending on age and mileage.

And if you do buy from either of them I wouldn't be too concerned about arranging an additional inspection, unless you are a belts-and-braces kind of person and are happy to spend the extra £200 or so (in which case, do).

I have bought from Dicky, though my MC-Shift was a private purchase. Given I'm now on my 18th Maser I feel confident enough to go solo these days.

Good luck and enjoy the search.

I too bought my (now gone 4200) through Dicky, he also looked after me very well when selling it, he offers advice freely and without caveats...

Thoroughly good chap.

Welcome along & god luck with your search.

I viewed a car through ADG who were excellent, I bought my GTS from Nuvola who were fantastic and have had dealings with Richard who is a true gent so you won't go far wrong. They will offer you a wealth of experience and excellent on what to look for, even if you don't end up buying through them.

Try to make your first Maserati purchasing experience a positive and enjoyable one & you will love the car, no doubt!

Hi mgtsroar. I bought mine from Nareman at Nuvola and cannot recommend him enough. I have heard equally glowing reports about Dicky as well. Either would see you straight.

The GTS MC is a wonderful thing - just the job for almost any occasion and in my view one of the most beautiful and best-sounding cars in the world. The positive attention these cars attract is tremendous.

Great intro to the Brand with a GTS. Buy from one of those you mention and you won't go far wrong, I bought mine from ADG and despite some "teething" problems with the car they sorted everything out with great after sales so very happy with the car and service etc... Geoff Capes on here had pretty much the same experience as me.....

Nuvola get good reviews but I hear they are not at the same premises these days which may suggest they are downsizing operations?

I have the perfect solution IMHO. Buy adam's GTS!
Another endorsement for Richard Grace- would not hesitate to purchase or SOR through him. Very honest, knowledgable and fair. Personally I think he is in the wrong job. He should be the UK's envoy for peace in the Middle East. He is one of the few men in the world I listen to.

I think they have had to buy a football pitch Phil to house all the great Maserati’s he has in stock which aren’t selling due to brexit, winter weather and Dave W.

Used RG three times now, two purchases and one sale. Bought both times unseen and trust his views and services.

Interesting Nuvola lists a huge amount of stock. I know that many will be SOR but I wonder if they are physical too?

What car are you buying next Iain?

All the advise you need is in the posts above. If I was buying a GTS I would be talking to Dicky & Nareman

You could talk to me as well, of course! Mine will probably be heading to a trusted indie to be sold if the forum doesn't bite, so if you're wiliing to wait for the perfect car...

Re Nareman / Nuvola, I think he's upsizing rather than down.

I'm in the market for a Maserati so will share my recent experiences.

I've spoken to Richard Grace, who is extremely knowledgeable of the marque. He has all his cars independently inspected before sale. He ran a car by me the other day, which wasn't quite right for me, and there was zero sales patter to try and talk me into the car. Very honest chap. I know someone who bought a car from him a couple of weeks ago and is pleased with it.

ADG is run by David and Alistair, who also come across as honest enthusiasts of the marque. Their cars are competitively priced but you need to organise your own inspection to determine wear to clutch, brakes and suspension bushes etc. and then come to an agreement on what will be addressed as part of the purchase price negotiations.

Matthew at Giallo is a respected service/repair specialist for Maserati's and has recently started selling cars. I've not viewed any of his stock but you can rest assured it will have been thoroughly inspected by him before sale.

I believe all of the above provide a 6 month warranty as standard, which can be extended.

I bought my GS from RG 2 weeks ago, photos were sent via email and deal done on the phone. A very professional and trustworthy chap.
