Evening all,

1. Would anyone know of a good alloy wheel refurb outfit in or near the Watford area.
2. What should a 'proper' refurb entail
3. How much should i budget a corner (20inch)
4. How long should it take

Any maser owners in watford?

I am miles away, but here is a few pence worth of input. There are two types of refurb: bent or cracked wheels that need welding/turning etc to fix, and scuffs, that most body shops can fix. What damage to you have? The later is little more that prep, filler and paint.

I've previously used The Wheel Specialist on two occasions (not for my QP yet).
There is one in St Albans if you google them.

Depends what you're after and if there is any damage over and above scuffs you want sorting. I've always gone for a full refurb which involves tyres off the rim, dipped/stripped and completely primed and re powder coated to a finish of your choosing. As part of that process they make good any scuffs or dings. Refit and balance
If you just want the face doing then the tyre can probably stays on.
Normally they'll turn it round in a day if you leave the car with them early - but obviously check first.

Prices depend on rim size and finish you want, assuming no major surgery required you're probably in the £80 - £100 a corner region for a full tyre off strip and re paint. Just the faces - probably a lot less.

Cheers
Ian.

Thanks Ian
They are local to me and I will give them a go.
What colour is your GTS and where do you go to service/repair if you don't mind me asking.

Hi Razz,
Mine is Granito Grigio I think and the wheels are the same colour - below :)

Currently still asking myself the same question as I've not had it that long but I believe there may be a specialist at MK. DL in Swindon do know the car though.

These are the two rims I've had done previously by TWS
Volvo XC90 17" in chrome finish:

And Omega Elite rims in Black Chrome 18" - they looked awesome. I'd be tempted to get my QP done like this - but they do look good already

iirc these were between 60 & 70 each quid a few years ago though.

I'd be interested to know what they quote you though :)

Cheers
Ian.

That is one delicious GTS, absolutely sublime - enjoy it to the max!
ill let you know what st-albans charge me.

Good indies in the south - McGrath Maserati comes with good recommendation, DK Engineering in chorleywood has great facilities but personally don't know of anyone who has used them.
Main dealer HR Owen in west london with £200+vat labour charge!

Ohh my word ............. seriously I could listen to it all day. I could listen to V8 rumble all day anyway - but there is something I can't quite put my finger on that brings tears to my eyes with this sond. I'm totally smitten.

Thanks I certainly do intend to enjoy it - I'm only on this planet once and none of know for how long either so knickers to it **** yes!!

Thanks for tip too - I'll bear them in mind. Hopefully I a do better than £200 an hour somewhere!!

Cheers
Ian.

Harpenden me.....so fairly close 2010 QP5 GTS
Still find HR Owen are quite competitive for servicing and use Highline autos for some bits and pieces and Bowron motor care for bodywork

Hi Devonboy

Well that is definitely pin up material!
So what's your pref - FF or GTS?

If you ever want to exchange notes on QP that would be great.

FF is amazing....but it was a bit OTT - four Maserati’s sort tells you my preferences!

Let me know if you are going to any car events and we compare notes!

For anyone in London I’ve just had an alloy repaired by http://www.londondiamondalloys.co.uk/contact-us they are based in SW11 and about 10mins walk from Clapham junction. I dropped off on way to Waterloo and picked up the same same day.

My neighbour works for Volkswagen/Audi nearby (Lookers) and told me they send all their cars there for repairs.

It was £80 plus vat, they have a couple of ovens and also do body repairs next door (Chelsea Coachworks)I had a good look around, the owner started this as a hobby many years ago and was a nice chap. They have secure facilities if you have a longer job, for security they move cars inside immediately. So when I got there you wouldn’t know what they did apart from a very small sign.
