I agree with those who said it will sell lots. Not sure it is my cup of tea but I'd like to see one in the flesh first.

I like it... Maybe a strong statement but it certainly looks better than the Lavente or that bentayga monstrosity

I'm not keen. Then again I wouldn't buy a Lambo either. I appreciate the technology but just not for me.

Still don't understand the need for Lamborghini, or Ferrari for that matter, to make these cars. If people are thinking that the Levante is diluting the Maserati brand what is this going to do to the Lambo one, especially when you start to see more of these than the supercars?

Performance and price for the Urus are in keeping with the brand, and it has the 'look at me' appeal for those with deep pockets.

The Levante was launched as a diesel for what used to be a high performance marque, and at a price which pits it against some very stiff competition; they should have offered the petrol version at the outset to avoid accusations of diluting the brand.

The Tesla X is a good compromise, especially the top model which even gives the Aventador a run for its money, and owners can wear their green credentials with pride too.

The Espada did no harm to the Lambo brand - indeed, it was their best seller. The Urus will do well and the brand will go from strength to strength. Because they'll still make the mad stuff and keep numbers low and exclusivity high.

Having visited my local main dealer recently to look at an FF, a new Urus might be a better alternative. But in grey, not yellow, with a deep tan interior.

Levante is a massive hit for Maserati and was the right thing to do. There are many on here that want Maserati to run the brand to preserve their ideas of what its heritage is but it has to survive and the market is moving away from sports car. Sure Maserati needs the sports car hook for branding, desire etc but to most Levante buyers it has that with the GranTurismo which is still - after 11 years - one of the best looking car on sale. Sure a new sports car is needed but far better to do that from a position of selling 50,000+ units pa rather than 5,000.

It would be terrible if luxury brands did not give customers what they want and - in that context - the Urus has hit the right button 100%.
2011 GranTurismo GTS Auto - have got through 45,000 miles so far
    2005 4200GT - went in 2011, a bit busy under braking
1999 3200GT - went in 2003, still bought it even though it threw a CEL on the test drive

Very well said. Mark my words, people will lament the passing of the GTS/GC when they eventually have to kill it off. What replaces it will have more technology, be more conformist with regulation (whatever power unit it eventually gets) and therefore, IMO will lose even more of the Maserati passion and dna. It may be a great car, but will it be a car people future generations want to own and keep. I doubt it
