I know from previous threads there are a few of us who play, or have played, in the past. Thought it may be an idea to see just what talent we may have lurking, and what instruments may be hiding.
To start, I play drums, only stopped in a band scenario a couple of years ago. So almost 40 years! Sold all the daft double bass kits, and kept my favourites, 1958 Slingerlands. Tell us your musical stories, and show the hidden treasures. received_1627869110599435.jpg

I'm worried by posting here as the use of the word "talent" is troubling me :)
Drums also - although only a one-off occasion. With borrowed kit but for some reason still have the seat.
Use that in the garage!

Don't know about hidden treasures, but here's a few from my collection, past and present...

1974(ish) Ibanez 2355. This was one of the "Lawsuit" models that Gibson made a real fuss over because it was such a close copy of their ES175. I can't date it properly because it's a pre serial number model, but going by finish, it's an early 1974.

I paid £50 for it back in the mid 90s from a mate who had it in a case in his garage. Neither of us realised what it was at the time. Turned out to be quite valuable and collectable. It used to get played regularly through this little beauty...
1969 Vox AC30

More recently, about 2001 I bought this Yamaha SG, which I still have and gig with occasionally when the mood takes, or I know we're going to be doing something a bit more rocky than our usual set...(it's an old pic of me - can't remember where now, but a festival somewhere in East Anglia)

I also use a G&L Legacy, although this is mostly my back up these days, unless I need a whammy bar/ Strat tones...

A few nice little recording amps. Trace Elliot Velocette and a Gibson GA15, which are pretty much identical inside. The pcb in the Gibson is stamped Trace Elliot.

Current gig setup is a Semi solid Gibson Midtown P90 running through either a Trevinitone TT15 or TT18 depending on size of venue...

Not mine. That belongs to Daniel in the second from last pic. That’s his TT18 in the last pic too and his Wem Dominator behind my Guitar in the Gibson GA15 pic.

Didn't start playing guitar to later in life and taught myself. Did some gigs in a trio with my mate in the early 90's and then joined a few heavy metal bands in the 90's. Not a great player and no lead more rhythm guitar. Met a chap who had recording gear so started writing songs and recorded 8 self penned tunes in the mid 90's. Once my career took of playing got less and less and didn't really pick the guitar up much for many, many years until around 2013 when my son wanted to learn. Gave me a new lease of guitar life ...... Wife said I had a midlife crisis as started buying guitars and a new amp. Wrote another song and recorded it last year and really pleased with it.

My favourite guitar is my EVH (red and white) thT I had for my 50th but also have -

Squire Strat from 1994 with upgraded hardware.
Jackson Rhoads
Ibanez
Bought an amazing 50watt Boss Kantana amp....Great value and pretty versatile. Had a 100 watt Marshall but just far too loud for the house and I couldn't get the right sound unless turned up high which shoo the house. Now it's Andy's (Zagato) house it shakes....

So boys/music room below...Oh and the drums are my wife's.

Could be a long post this one.
First a story, early seventies I auditioned for Chicory Tip (I know I know!) whose only claim to fame was 'Son of my Father' (do look them up ahem)
Anyway the group (no one called them bands back then) gave the ticket to my mate Steve Allen a Kentish boy.
I was the better player but he had the better image. They toured Europe around 1976 time and he regaled me with tales of debauchery and something called a Sheriff's Star! The group fizzled out.
As recompense for the ticket he sourced a few instruments for me at very good prices (sometimes free) and some pictures follow.

Lorna played the Piano properly whereas I attacked it with chords
The 3 Eko's are work a day but good for children to learn on.

WP_20180227_008.jpg

A 1977 USA Telecaster on the left sourced by Steve and an ebay special Les Paul on the right which is not really.

WP_20180227_009.jpg

Two SG's the one on the right (batwing plate) has an unsubstantiated rumour to it that it was one of Townshend's spares for their Live at Leeds tour. I cannot comment but the serial numbers match up.
I have their dates but from memory they are both around 1967

Lastly is Bessie from 1934

p1_uqcxlctrs_ss.jpg

My brother makes guitars too.
I now need that Vox AC30 in an earlier post.
I also need a 50's/60's Martin D28 or D35 not fussy which.

My youngest plays folk clubs in Leeds, my eldest founded Cold in Berlin so if you like heavy dark Goth metal and swearing check them out. They do ok and Vauxhall motors sponsor their tour bus in return for publicity

I have not played for about 3/4 years as care worker duties took priority and my skill level is now poor to below average. I have no motivation either to pick them up again yet.

I am on iTunes (I think twice, though may be just the once these days). The clue's in the name... very different type of music, though.

I'll just come out and admit it - I'm a huge fan of prog! Because of this I have an unhealthy interest in 80's analogue guitar synths and currently have a Roland GR700 with a g707 guitar controller ( the strange one with a "handle")and a GR300 with a g808 controller. All mint and bought from Ebay. I've also dabbled with synths and have a Roland D50 and SH202. I really really want a Moog of any description and remember the days hanging around the Barra's where you could pick up analogue synths for next to nothing - you couldn't give them away at one time. Oh I wish I kept my Roland SH201!!!
