Thread: Strad clutch wear at 4-year service

    Hi guys & gals,

    Just got the Strad back from the wallet-sapping 4-year service today.

    I got them to do a clutch wear check. As I have done every single mile in the Stads life (ok post delivery), I have been able to know how the clutch has been used for its whole life.

    When I had the 2-year service, wear was at 27%. I think mileage was 13,000.

    Today mileage is at 20,200 and they said wear was at 35.2%! So I asked them to do it in the workshop with me three (lovely 360 CS in there - drool) and yep, reading we again 35.2%. Happy that it has only worn 8% in the past 2 years.

    So pretty happy all round. On a par with the last GTS and miles better than my first GS. Brake wear was all good also and have 9mm left on the pads.

    Had to change the chassis plates and a new wiper and that’s it.

    Ah the 4 year Lambda sensor special.

    About £4k for me as I remember.

    I've got mine booked in with JCT600 Leeds in June

    It's 4 years old so out of Maserati warranty. The lady who booked it in said don't bother with the Lambda sensors as it's out of warranty and at 11,000 miles they'll be fine anyway.
    There collecting and delivering back on a trailer and cost is less than £1300, the air filter is a BMC one so that doesn't need changing.
    Happy with that.

    That's exactly what I did. No Lambda sensors and a BMW air filter, about the same price. The sensors should last 50k miles +++ easily, changing them is pointless.

    Wow 4k, that is crazy.

    The MD quoted over 2.5K for my 68k service which i thought ridiculous.

    In the end replaced the Lambda sensors myself - Bosch parts and the same part numbers as the original ones but minus the Maserati special tax

    Re the % wear on the clutch.

    I think Maserati finaly got this sorted in the last SOFAST update on the 4200/GS. All my three coupes managed 1% per 1k miles.

    Good to read the GT does similar.

    Much cheaper to diy or go to an indie but if you want to keep a Maserati warranty they have to be done at the 4 year service. I believe the carbon canister has to be done at the same time. Thankfully I do not have a Maserati warranty so will replace them when needed.
