    I know this is left field but always fancied a Bristol 603/Brigand/Beaufighter.

    Oddball and fugly and cheap as chips at one time - well the 603 and 411. No doubt theyíre back in 50k plus bracket now.

    Would have to be green with brown leather, so I can wear my flat cap and backless driving gloves....

    For this sort of money I would go Ferrari. You have very well sorted 360s or 612s (a nice GT) for 60-65 and 10k more gets you a seat in a higher mileage F430s...
    it’s no comparison to an Audi imho

    Except on keeping it on the road if you intend to drive it...

    Pal who has had a string of fast beetles including a Gt3, and laterally a V12 Vantage has bought a R8V10 a few weeks ago after considering likes of Lambo and Macca.
    Says it is insane performance but useable on a daily basis. Loving it so far. He wanted to try other things rather than stuck with one marque.
    His only negative comment so far has been the dealer network and trying to deal with them.
    Trouble is coming from his Aston experience he says that was always going to be an issue.
    I am seeing him this weekend as I take my car South for a service so looking forward to seeing his in the flesh.

    Would love a V10 R8 if I could make do with two seats. The interior would not bother me - when you buy a 911 it looks the same as a 918 - and let's face it there always has been much component sharing in FCA. When I got in my hire Grand Cherokee at Toronto Airport last year I found lots of the controls easy to use as they were from a Ghibli...or vice a versa.

    Always liked the R8. Drove one all afternoon round Dubai race track, it was the 4.2 V8 and would say it was comparable to the 4200 in its performance. Brakes were very good.

    Of course if I did take the plunge I too would look at the V10 Plus.

    To go against some of the comments above, if I were in the market for a new car and it not being a Maserati, I would be firmly in the Hurricane camp, I think they are stunning....in green or orange naturally. Well, you don't buy a car like that and get it in a dull colour now do you

    I think this is the issue for me with something like the R8....it is almost too good & capable on the road. It is not special enough at anything less than 10/10ths.

    I like the idea of MX5's & the GT86 for that reason also the new Alpine. We should have more lower power lighter cars with skinnier tyres so much more more fun & a full driving experience at lower speeds. It is overused but I like & understand the EVO concept of 'EVO' cars....the thrill of driving. I don't think an R8 gives you much of that at legal road speeds.

    It is the part of the reason I bought the TVR....not that this has gone so well initially! Also why I bought the GTi-6. These super & hypercars are getting a bit silly now. It is why I don't quite understand the Tesla's. Make a car ridiculously heavy that can do 0-60mph in less than 3 secs in a straight line while in silence...having no fun of enjoyment in the process....I don't get it.

    Been looking at MK1 MR2's that were great fun.

    Bristols do have a certain something. There was a 404 - with the central main beam - in a village I used to live, and I was oggling a 400 (I think) in the window of the Bristol showroom in Kensington last week. Very lovely. A 411 would be something special and the lazy rumbling of the Chevvy engine is a great sound.
