Thanks for that. I'll look them up. So Autoshield dont just replace windscreens then? :0037:

....I hadn't noticed just how old this thread was!

Emblem sports cars in Poole Dorset.

Had them do a pre purchase inspection on a GranTurismo and the were super, 460 pounds for a very detailed and comprehensive inspection.

They’re one of the oldest indies in the UK, and can do anything from servicing and maintenance to accident repair and full restoration.

Thanks everyone. looking back at this thread it seems Mario is consistently the specialist of choice. No mention of Supercarclinic, JMH or others?

We only recommend the specialists who sponsor this forum. It works as a 2 way street, they look after us, we look after them. Just make Marios aware you are a new forum member who got his recommendation from this forum.

JMH are near me. They focus more on Ferrari and Porsche but I have never used them from the opening enquiry to them in 2012 to ask about doing a PPI on my Porsche Turbo purchase. The first interaction was not good so I gave them a wide berth from the outset.

Dont know Supercar Clinic et al.

I only use Marios at Autoshield. Very knowledgeable, great and reputation and totally approachable. I know my car is in very good hands with him. So a strong recommendation from me for Marios.

Have used JMH a few times and had good experiences, first time after buying my first 4200 from a well respected outlet in Shepherd's Bush, on driving it back to Chester I had a couple of problems. I took it to JMH for a check and based on their analysis Nareman insisted on taking it back. (A good man, different story !) so he trusted them. They didn't charge me for the analysis, probably hoping for future custom, and that works for me. Also went there with a hand break problem on a later 4200 and their response was spot on, Quote, it's a Maserati 4200 hand break and we know they just don't work. If we play with it, it will fall apart so wait until it doesn't work at all and come back. So at least they know 4200 handbreaks. Basically they didn't try and get money for nothing. Their Ferrari reputation and racing experience tells me that they are no dummies. But more importantly, I found them down to earth and genuine, some times that is difficult to find.

That would have to be Autoshield (Marios) 0161 8813463 in Manchester for servicing and other works to your car and SupranoStu in Warrington for second hand parts 077860446039
I'm in the South and I'm interested in a GT up North, nearish Manchester. Can anyone recommend Autoshield for a pre-purchase inspection, or suggest other options? Roughly how much should I expect to pay, what are the more complex things they'd look for? I'm assuming an inspection is a must if you don't personally have experience of the seller/ their servicing people - any counter-views? Thanks for any advice...

I recommend Autoshield for the inspection of your intended GT. An inspection is a must if you don't have personal experience of the model and marque.

Just noticed this thread again, and it has reminded me that since writing the above I have totally changed my opinion, and will never use JMH again. Autoshield is the way to go.

A note of thanks to Marios at Autoshield - others here already recommended him for a pre-purchase inspection but it turned out he knew the car anyway. I phoned him about it and Marios offered to measure the clutch for me prior to purchasing from the owner. He and Russell stuck around after closing last Friday, and now I own two Maseratis! Thanks again, if I lived up there I'd be using you for my servicing.
