In the same vein as the like button (which gets another vote here) would a "fu**ing numpty" button be a useful addition too?
Perhaps leading to, for the most votes garnered, the King Dick "Spanner" Of The Week award

Happy to go first for just suggesting it!

Just waking up and I'm beaten to it.
A good old readers wife's section for the polaroids :)

If you have already chosen your platform you probably don't want to hear this suggestion but we have just built a residents' forum on https://www.discourse.org and I'm really liking it. It's very clever at knowing if you are logged-in: you can receive notifications in the Mac's Notification Centre, and if you are not logged-in it will notify you by email (as other platforms do). You can receive digests via email and even reply via email. You can even create new threads via email.

It's very modern, responsive, comes with it's own phone app - although it's web browser interface is so good the app is hardly needed.

One thing I love is it automatically takes you to the last post you read on a thread the next time you reopen it.

https://londonbikers.com/forums use it too.

Good luck with the move, hats off to you and the team for the good work.

One thing that strikes me is the wealth of knowledge embedded here. We do see familiar things come up, which prompts me to think that some structured repository of items might be useful. Something simple, title, with explanation, which anyone can add to or edit.

So a Wiki as well as a Forum? That prompted me to do a search, and we could just populate this: http://www.allcarwiki.com/wiki/Maserati or start our own. The challenge is to make the Wiki useful and not just a collection of rag-tag opinions.

Absolutely the knowledge base of the forum is fantastic. Is the search facility not sufficient to interrogate though? With time spent doing so throwing up other points of interest. Research often does.

Better search is also being sorted and yes the suggestion of having a model specific how to and fix section is a great call.

I don't find anything wrong with the search function as is actually. Sometimes combining with Google helps a bit.
Are you talking of creating a Forum "Haynes" manual in effect? Perhaps links through to part suppliers would be useful.

That's absolutely great, Matt. Unfortunately i haven found a way to make the current search discriminate enough on here, it seems to take word string search as an OR function rather than AND, which throws up large amounts of extraneous stuff. Something simple mind, perhaps a forum section would do with a decent search .

I would welcome a better/easier search function within alternative parts (ideally model based as suggested above) - there's a lot of pages to scroll through. I believe there is a spread sheet - if that could be linked somehow that might be a help?

Hi Mattt
I've mentioned it before but I'd like a 'go to the top of the page' button like Ebay has.
Thx and good luck with the new site.
Moz

Moz, if you can, do what I do and program a macro to one of your spare button on your mouse to take you to the top of the page, I also have another macro to take me back.

If you need help then let me know.

Another vote for a dedicated wiki. (knowledge base) Often when threads go off topic it's entertaining, but it seems to me that this can also be problematic when searching for something specific.
As someone new to Maseratis, a list of trusted specialists, parts suppliers etc (part of a wiki perhaps) would be invaluable. (For the next three years while I'm studying, I need to budget carefully, so simply can't afford dealer parts prices or servicing.)
The very generous help and advice I've received here, from people I haven't even met yet has been incredible, so if there are any mini-projects, like organising data or researching or anything else a digital non native can do, don't hesitate to ask Matt.
