Pretty sure the 456 has a Livonia transmission from the Good old USA and the 3200 is from Australia. Is it the same slightly weird BTR auto as the 3200 that is used in the 456??

I think the 456 auto box was the same as the GM one that was used in the 400 series, but modified for transaxle.Pretty sure the 456 has a Livonia transmission from the Good old USA and the 3200 is from Australia.
Yes, and the state of the underside is worth investigating further with what appears to be waxoyl sprayed over surface rust in some of the pictures. Also, the unknown state of the valve guides on these 456 engines is something that puts me off. You’d be brave or foolish to bid on one without seeing it running hot …It's not been serviced for the last 7 years, so will need a major and a cambelt. Looks like the window regulators need replacing (again) also. So while it might be nice, it could easily be a money pit. You'd have to be feeling very brave indeed to buy a 456 at auction, sight unseen.
You could try calling Tom at Keys Motorsport, as he may know/remember the car and owner.
...as stated elsewhere, bravery and stupidity look exactly the same at the outset.Yes, and the state of the underside is worth investigating further with what appears to be waxoyl sprayed over surface rust in some of the pictures. Well that's how I did it 12 years ago on the 98 GTA I bought blind there's a thread on here somewhere....as stated elsewhere, bravery and stupidity look exactly the same at the outset.
Totally agree mine was £20,000 less in 2012 and many thought I was Crazy but the history was bang up to date all with the supplying dealer made sense to me.Way too expensive. Circa £45k (with fees and VAT) for a high mileage early 456 with missing history, in need of immediate work. Looks like it needs a minimum of £5k of spend instantly, for example just to be able to drive it without risk of the belts snapping and engine imploding!
A dealer might struggle to get that price when selling one fully checked, serviced and warrantied.
Good luck to the buyer, but that’s a very risky purchase.
That 3200 will be inexpensive. Doubt it’ll make £10k. Sounds/looks to be a decent example.612 at No Reserve, with the later F1A gearbox? https://www.historics.co.uk/buying/...caglietti-from-the-cheesbrough-collection-jg/
There's also a no reserve 3200 GT that has me twitching
You'd want to give the interior a good sniff. That 3200 will be inexpensive. Doubt it’ll make £10k. Sounds/looks to be a decent example.
