Thanks for your comments folks. It really is something special, especially with the roof down. But pulling into the services I only then realised how err... inconspicuous it is. It is a head-turner and not necessarily being the showy type (yeah, looking at the car I do appreciate the contradiction there!), it was almost unnerving!
I should give you a brief back-story... I had a black 4.2 and thoroughly enjoyed it. But, I've always hankered after a Lambo, ever since the poster on the wall of a white Countach when I was but a small boy. I got to the position in the past year that I could have gone out and got myself a quite decent Gallardo, but came to the conclusion that my chances of ever using it were pretty slim. I couldn't drive it into work as it'd be just 'too much', whereas my GT was kind of accepted. And I wouldn't be able to fit the family in the Gallardo at weekends - whereas we can go out in the Mas. So would it just sit there looking pretty, which is no bad thing, but I do like to actually get use out of such cars!
I also would've bought a Gallardo Spyder as I've always fancied a convertible so switching / upgrading the Mas actually became something of an 'almost sensible' compromise. I know, that use of the word 'compromise' is stretching it - on a par with 'man-maths'.
I have to say I was blown away with it. When me and junior picked it up from GrayPaul in Birmingham, they did the big pulling back the sheet thing and my son's draw dropped at how stunning it was. And when I started it up in the showroom he almost dropped the cup of tea he was holding. All the way home was in Sport mode, and even going under a small bridge or through a town with narrowish streets, the sound reverberated around. Needless to say I haven't yet found out whether the stereo works!
