As per title...has anyone tried this "maneuver " ?
I can see that the box doesnt drop clear without, I suspect, the lower valence coming off...maybe more..:baffle:
Any clues appreciated !!

Grtzzz...!

Newton (2b1ask1) did removed his airbox on his previous 4200.
There is a post about it somewhere!

Yup, I've done it. A bit fiddly made more fiddly by the screws/bolts/homes often being broken or not secure or oxidised or rusty. I'm sure Newton did a thread or piece on it.

Basically n/s/f wheel off and liner out. Then I think from memory 2 bolts each side then the back/face end of the airbox wiggles off then air filter can be changed. I had to get further behind to get to headlight brackets etc. but never seemed to be able to get 2nd/back half of airbox out. I reckon it needs bumper off for that...or lift. Didn't have lift at the time I had the project 4200 so was doing it on axle stands.

It isn't a great design but with some patience & careful wiggling it does come off easy enough. Once I had don't it 2 or 3 times I had a good knack.

Yup, I would agree with that if you need the whole thing out unfortunately. Good luck. Had the back bumper off to replace the parking sensors but not the front. I can't imagine it is too hard.

Well...decided to bite the bullet today and after some initial trepidation, I managed to release the front bumper enough to wiggle the smashed aIrbox free...
Honestly, I looked at the lower valance fixings, and feared the worst...That said- getting it back straight will be a different story Im sure. Quite amazed to notice how badly the headlights fit. I can see daylight between the rubber seals and the body panels. Makes the idea of moving the induction set up to a pod mounted inside the wing less than an ideal solution. There must be that much water guffing thru' the gap...!! I hope to get it back better than I found it. And Im going to have to release the driver's side light unit too...they both suck !**** me, Im sure Maserati didnt pass it through QC like that...:conf2:
There's been a significant oil leak at some point in the front left of the engine bay. Initially, I suspected an over filled oil change but the airbox is dry. So too the filter...I do hope it isnt my PAS oil cooler....
I am yet to drive this car. I just didnt feel confident it was sensible given the report I got from McGraths tbh....
Just waiting on a new airbox....

Finally got the aussie airbox my bruv posted, out of customs...jeez. Disproportionate tax vs the cost of processing - Its the wait that kills the joy of it though...
Anyway...Not the saving I hoped it'd be and questionable quality so Ive had to repair and reinforce it. Probably last better than a new one 'cos Id have just thrown a new one in and probably not thought to beef it up against damage...( K&Ns got to be the way forward with these things..1 Position. 2 Ease of maintenance. 3. Lasts a lifetime. 4 Better induction...)
Anyways, my first drive of the car in anger. The alignment is off but it feels great in the corners !
Going to try washing her down, followed by the clay bar treatment, then DA compounding and polish, then finish with some wax....! You cant polish a tur4 but Id bet its been a longtime coming for this paint.
As a newbie to the whole detailing thing, Im open to criticism and suggestions as Im only going by what I can glean from the internet....!:D

Good on you; agree the mounts, well the whole air box is pathetic on these!

K&N is a no brainer for me, just need to sort the GS out and soon...

Have to say, I was really surprised that the clay bar didnt come up as filthy as I expected it to.
If you've never tried removing scratches or swirls with a compound &/or polishing process, you could stand to be amazed by the results. Especially if you have a darker colour....!

Did this at the weekend following this instruction, easy enough as described, thanks for the summary :)

For me it went like this:
Make sure car is in gear / handbrake on / chock wheels on drivers side.
Line up jack.
Loosen wheel nuts.
Jack car, remove wheel and place under sill.
Realise axle stand is too high so put it in a stupid place under ARB just in case, along with sticking some bricks under the hub just in case.
Spray Plus Gas then go off to get tools.
NSF wheel liner is held in by 6 bolts (actually I think 1 bolt and 5 screws is right):
1 points towards the engine and is likely easiest to get out.
2 are near the top, pointing towards the back of the headlight, also easy on my car.
3 are at the bottom, into the bumper. 1 came out, the other 2 looked brown and misshapen.
Not messing about, these aren't coming out - get angle grinder and grind off the 2 remaining screws.
4 bolts on airbox - Plus Gas, wait a few minutes, 3 off no problem, 1 was spinning as the retaining captive 'nut' was no longer captive, but they can slip out the side if you get them loose enough.
Swap out air filter and reverse.
Bumper mounts replaced with rivnuts and SS bolts (plus some copper grease to help prevent cross corrosion) so it's easier next time around.

Car rewarded me with a flat battery despite living on a CTEK - new battery ordered with the money I've saved from the next service ;)
