So the day so far went like this:
Mas out the garage, delivered to the Outlaws (insurance agreed it can be on the road there till the end of the month!)
To Motex with Alex to buy fluids for the VW
Raise the rolller shutter and repair and fit the box over the top
Clear space in the garden, manually wind down the Frankenvan off the post lift! push the van out of the garage and manoeuvre into the garden through said shutter... Catch our breath!
Push the VW out of the borrowed garage opposite, turn it 180 degrees and align it for the lift, figure the lifting points and manually raise it about a foot off the ground so we can drop the wheels off.
Get on the crawler and assess what he bought!
Yep it was still a bargain
Remove air-box, carb, heat exchanger hoses etc. figure it had a recent engine rebuild
annotate cylinder numbers and firing order on the firewall for future reference
configure the new dizzy cap and HT leads, find the wiring over the engine is toasted!
Retire to the dining table with the carb, rebuild kit and a large tin of carb cleaner and rebuild the Solex Type 34 PICT 3 whilst Alex watched the end of the footy.
Realise we were both too knackered to do anything else on the car this evening, get cleaned up and have dinner.
Spend the evening fettling the roller shutter so it runs perfectly on the remotes
Give it best for the evening... Head over here!
