Martijn,
Just to clarify my issue, the seat lever goes down OK but as I tilt the "seat back" forward the seat does not move automatically forward. If I move the "seat back" back and forth a few times then it works.
I just popped into the garage 2 minutes ago and this time it worked first time !! So I guess the tilting forward of the "seat back" operates a micro switch.
So hopefully Pauhanajum may provide instructions for dismantling the seat.

Then I did understand you correctly.
Indeed you can try a reset first as described by hashluck. (Though the auto movement should not work at all, not like you described now that it miraculously worked from the first time)
If that does not do the trick,
try to measure resistance on the connector pins I told you about in previous post, that is the microswitch (No27) that signals to the controller (No24) underneath the seat.
Switches are prone to first work sometimes before they do not work at all anymore. (Therefore the switch is my main suspect, other electrical things usually break and just stop working).
Doing this measurement, you do not need to take apart your seat for something that might not be broken!
If you move the back rest back and forth (fully!) and see the measurement change accordingly, the switch operates fine and it would be very frustrating if you took the seat apart...
If it doesn't, this is the guilty one and you will need to take the seat apart (often cleaning the switch with lots of contact spray helps, make sure it's fully dry before putting it back!).
Next step, if the switch signals just fine, you should swap the controller (No24) underneath the seat with the passenger side and see if that does the trick.
You could do this as the first step also if you don't have a multi meter and just see if the issue persists, then you know it's not the controller and probably the switch.
If your button operated back and forward moving works perfectly it is NOT the motor...
If your button operated stutters also, it can be mechanical related as the gears are cable operated inside a flex tube.
Sometimes the connector of the flex breaks making the square end of the cable pop out of the motor or gear (I had this with one and 3D printed a new connector).
If you want I can send you a link to the 3200 GT Workshop manual which is identical for many things, seats are explained there.
Just let me know...
