Hi All,

As above, I’m not a current Maserati owner, but I’m on the lookout. I almost bought one a few years ago but opted for an M6 Gran Coupe. It’s not a decision I regret, but my circumstances have now changed, and hence I’m on the lookout for a 2014MY Granturismo/Grancabrio Sport.

I wanted to ask the forum if there’s anything in particular I should look out for when buying (aside from the service history).

Thanks everyone!

Mark.

Welcome. At that age the rust underneath won’t have taken a hold so just get it properly under sealed before winter.

They are very reliable cars but look out for a rattle from the AC compressor when engaged, tyres worn on the inner front edges indicates front bush wear. The hoods on the cabs have had issues with leaking into the rear of the car but suspect those should have all been sorted.

Then just check all the usual stuff, vibration under braking indicates warped discs.

Get an inspection from a know specialist and you should be all good

That‘s very useful, thank you. When you mention the leaking issues - are you referring to earlier models, or is this an issue across all years? Thanks again!

I would give Richard Grace a call... he is likely to have access to the car you seek.

+1

He supplied my 2014 GTS MC Shift and helped me upgrade it to my 2016 Strad! I also had an M6GC and can assure you that you will prefer the Maser!

That’s definitely reassuring to hear! Thank you.

Think they all did, early ones were more problematic. I suspect with a 3 year Maserati warranty they all would have been sorted by the end of that.

Hi Mark, I'm in Berkshire too (near Wokingham) and have a GT which I now know my way around. Feel free to PM me if you want to know what ownership is like!

Welcome. I just bought one :) They're ace - do it. A good read on here will tell you all the weak points - but to be honest there aren't many. One small point - the bucket seats introduced in the 2013 update to the GTs only seemed to start filtering through to the GCabrios in 2015 unless they're MC spec. Richard Grace I haven't contacted (I went a bit lockdown crazy and sort of just jumped!) but comes highly recommended on here.
