I have been browsing usual car sites and quite tempted by the GranSport. I have no plans to sell my GTS so wondered how the GranSport will compare to a GTS? There seems to be a couple available in my ideal colour too (blue).
Has anyone gone back from a GTS to a Gransport?

Have both. Both great. But different. I must write down my musings one day, once I have figured out exactly what they are.

They are certainly good value at the moment.

Suspension is much firmer and overall it is much more agile... as one would expect of a smaller and lighter car.

Easier to park and navigate around country lanes too.

Second the blue and beige one for £19995 but picture 10 that brake disc looks worn so as with any a good inspection needed.

Hi elan

My first Maserati was a Granturismo and after two years I decided it wasn’t quite what I wanted anymore, and I swapped it for a Gransport, which I definitely prefer...

The Gransport is nowhere near as comfortable as the Granturismo (the ride teeters on being too firm) and unless you are willing to modify the exhaust it won’t sound anywhere near as good as the GTS...however, it’s smaller, feels sportier, the engine revs more freely, you can drive it at higher revs without seriously risking your license, and (for me) it’s a better choice as a weekend toy car...

Lots of other people (including my wife and kids) think I was nuts to swap a newer, more impressive looking car for an older smaller model, but there‘s no way I would swap back...

I thought the GS is generally equal to or faster than the GranTurismo in all variants except for the MC Strad no?

To me I prefer the GS due to its smaller size and how its more ‘sports car’ and less ‘GT’ compared to the newer model, it’s also much rarer and feels more bespoke compared to the GranTurismo which is more generic inside. The 4200/GS seem like they have a lot more Ferrari influence in them than the newer models.

My 4200 manual out-drags the GT with 4.7 MC Shift. Only been behind one Strad and it could not pull away from the old girl... Slip stream might have helped me though

Though you, you lucky so-and-so, have the MCV and a Strad, so not totally representative of most GS and GT. The MCV is quite a different drive to a normal GS, just as the Strad is quite different to a standard GT.

As for the OP, I prefer the higher mileage car. Mainly because I’m not a fan of the grey interior of the lower mileage one. Also, as an additional/occasional car, it’s easier to justify one at the below £20k price point. I have to say, a good GS at below £20k as a weekend toy is properly tempting, and who knows, after another month of lock-down and winter well set in, it might be even cheaper come December (if it’s not sold by then).

How come prices for the GS are so low in the UK? Is that representative for the entire used car market? In mainland europe it is rather the other way around these days. Prices of used cars are firm. A low-ish mileage GS would fetch around 40k here = approx GBP 36k

The Aston/Jag effect.
If you aren’t into Porsches, then the Aston/Jag offer patriotic pull. And with far more sold, and plenty more specialists around the UK, they’re easier - though not necessarily cheaper - to get to a specialist. I’m at least 35-40 miles away from my nearest specialists in either direction (Maserati), whereas there are a dozen Porsche/Jag/Aston specialists.
