Does anyone know if the second jab has the same effect on after symptoms has the first?
My second one due this Sunday
I looked it up as my first was pretty ropey! Allegedly the symptoms are less, although actual case information was sparse.

As far as I can tell, it’s a lottery. No pattern as to who gets affected.
Am sure it will be fine.

Had my first one last week and after hearing from 2 friends about their bad reactions I spent the first few hours waiting to feel rough but fortunately no bad side effects apart from my left arm feeling a bit numb . Was quite relieved did nt fancy spending all weekend in bed with flu like symptoms .

Should have mentioned I had the Astra Z jab
It would appear that there are less reports of side effects from those who have had the Pfizer jab. But in saying that, the couple next door have had the Astra Z jab and absolutely no effects at all except a sore arm, which you can expect if someone sticks a long needle in it.

I had the Astra Z one, was fine, two days later, slightly sore arm where the needle went in, nothing really but also generally felt zoned out and eye focus was out, essential for telly watching. Nothing drastic, long sleep and was fine.

Looks like the Astra Z clotting issue is ramping up again. I'm on blood thinners (I think) for my ICD so I might be ok!

Not sure how blood thinners come into things, no idea. But one of the questions I was asked by the nurse before my jab was are you on any blood thinning drugs, I answered no, she said that’s ok then.

She asked me that, but I dont know if what I'm on is a thinner, I showed her the list and I got the jab. Thing is when I cut or pick a scab or spot (guilty pleasure!) it bleeds for ages, perhaps it might be white cells/immunity rather than thinning per se.

Pfizer side effects seem to be after jab 2 whereas AZ after jab 1 so AZ one looks worse for reaction due to timing profile. Lots more vaccines will be approved in the next few months including some single shot ones.

It will be interesting to see whether existing vaccines are altered over the summer to cope with new strain variants or whether newer vaccines just take over.

Of course they will be altered, it’s still a learning curve. Newer vaccines will be adaptations and improvements based on the original ones. The Flu vaccine is altered every year as far as I know. There is little doubt that more vaccines which are capable of coping with the various strains are already developed and just waiting. And then, even more will be in production depending on circumstances, like I said right now it’s a learning curve, but we have the technology.

There are also trials underway looking at the potential for mixing vaccines and actually increase efficacy and therefore protection. This is what they did in developing the Ebola vaccine a few years back.

You will probably find that more people die each year from a bad reaction to taking paracetamol than the AZ vaccine.
At the end of the day it all comes down to our attitude towards risk. I am understand that you are far more likely to catch Covid or potentially worse, than get an incredibly rare reaction to any of these vaccines, not just AZ. So I've had my first dose of AZ vaccine and I am looking forward to my 2nd one 1st June. Fingers crossed!

Dunno if I said but my 2nd youngest daughter has COVID, but asymptomatic, she only knew cos her bf lost his sense of taste and smell, so she got tested. Us Kearney's seem to be of hardy stock, proper mongels. No Crufts for us!

I'm back to normal now. Took 10 days for me to get over the Astrazenica. Impacted on work, as I have a questionnaire to answer prior to travelling, have you in the last 10 days had ....... etc. Had to answer yes to a couple. Second one in June, can't say I'm looking forward to it, but at least that will be them done.
Myself and Mrs 1963 had the Astrazenica a week last Saturday. We both felt mild flu symptoms for a couple of days but I had no energy all week. Glad to say I’m back on form now. Also our second in June so not really looking forward to that but at least we’re protected.

Had the text to book for my first jab on Thursday, wasn't expecting it for some time given all the press about lack of supply for first doses this month and nothing for the under 50's.

Booked in for next Wednesday afternoon.

Well been and had my first dose this afternoon, Astra Zeneca, all absolutely fine so far, nothing fallen off!

I know I'm fussing but still have slight worries over the AZ vax, why deter under 30's having it if it's as safe as they say?

Don’t have it then. It’s your choice.

Almost everyone else has weighed the risk and gone ahead so it’s not clear what you are looking for here.

Had my second Pfizer last Thursday. Fewer side effects than the first. Sore arm, then flu-like feeling. 48 hours after the jab, all recovered except for the sore arm, still a bit tender at the injection site.
Summary: No issue.
