GT Residuals

GT used prices appear to be increasing. It may just be short term due to the current economic state and a general trend in certain cars holding or increasing in value. Plus it may not be the whole GT range and age spectrum. But certainly the cars I was originally looking at (2010-2014) appear to now be appreciating. I eventually started looking at MY13 models and these started around £30k-£32k, now they are £37k upwards…

ThIs is good from an ownership perspective provided it remains, but maybe it will balance out over the next couple of years?

Even the WBAC quote I did prior to buying the GT keeps going up, £2k in 7 weeks!!

Long may it last…….

They appear to be rising, but they’re cooling off already. The overpriced mid to high mileage cars aren’t selling, the prices will settle back over July, August.

It feels like lots of used car marques are rising. An early Vantage was easily bought for under 30k a few months back now most good ones seem to be around 34k to 40k. Dick Lovett are asking 48k for 2007 Roadster with 19k on the clock….Good luck with that…..Most of the old Vantage range seems to have rises by around 10k in the last few months. N430 a few months back for 53k now all are over 60k. Dealers are now asking 90k plus for the first manual V12 Vantage when they were asking 78kish and up through lockdown.

Even my daily drive seems to have gone up. WBAC offered 4K last year with 96k on the clock and now they are saying 5k with 109k on the clock !!!!

Cyclone1 Let me know where I can get an MY13 for £3 from…assuming it’s a Matchbox!

Seriously though, I think prices across marques are up as we’re coming out of lockdown and people have cash burning a hole in the pocket, combined with it being the summer months when prices for our kind of cars tend to be at the strongest

Even our SQ5 appears to be around £2k more than we paid 18 months ago after putting 8k miles on it

I just struggle to believe good examples of the GTS can be had for less than £30K (apart from the odd exception).

What an unbelievable amount of car for the money.

Dealer I bought mine off was saying that prices have risen over 7k for some of his new stock. He also mentioned a Bentley garage that added 20k to its stock and they all sold.

Interesting - just put my details into WBAC and was surprised at the outcome and what I consider to be minimal and perfectly acceptable depreciation since I bought a couple of years ago. (Of course that excludes the lions share of £3k spent on servicing and over £1k in road tax.)

Until you get there and they scrub another 2k off and then charge you if you want the money straight away or you can wait for 5 days!

Doesn’t surprise me as seeing it in the classifieds.

I know WBAC will never pay the price they quote but, interestingly, I have just spoken to the Maserati MD I bought the car from and they have expressed an interest at a price point not a million miles away.

Agreed, every car I was tracking when buying with between 20k-40k miles has since sold. Seems to be the sweet spot for buyers. Realistically priced higher mile cars are also moving. Your accurate and honest advice when I was looking for a GT has proved to be spot on, so appreciate that massively…..

I have noticed that vantages have gone up a lot too. I know lots have cars have gone up, but they seem to have gone up more than most. Annoying, as a V8 vantage is one of my options for next car when I change from the QP GTS.

It’s a crazy market for them at the moment.

My old 2010 GC just sold for an advertised £37k with 37k miles last week. I bought it for £35k at 30k miles at the start of 2019 and sold it to Dickie at a low but very swift £27k back in Feb when the WBAC valuation was £18k as I needed the cash and space for my GT40 arriving.

It then got passed pillar to post through 4 dealers, each putting the asking price up by 1k or so until it was sold by Performance Paddock in Kent. WBAC valuation is now £24k, so I guess it’s partly down to being summer and a convertible.

If anyone on here bought it at £37k, then I think that was £2 to £4K too much. Original Reg LK60AWG

Another car that has gone up dramatically is a Jaguar XK dynamic R, 2014/15 models. Basically the run out XKR. Not long ago these were 30-40k, now they are being advertised at 50-60k !! Nice cars, but that’s stradale money.

I don't think it’s a GT thing (unfortunately) as almost all used cars have risen significantly but maybe even more if they are performance cars.

Real world example is in Feb I bought my wife a 2018 Seat Leon Cupra 300 manual with 5k miles from a dealer for £18k. At the time there were 2 other similarly spec/priced cars on Auto Trader to choose from however they had circa 11k miles on the clock. Today oAT has 4 x 2018 cars with 15k-18k miles that start at £21k and go to £22k. That’s a £3-4 k jump which is a big percentage on an £18k car. Holiday savings and the search for fun close to home means people are splashing out on their fun/dream cars. I did just that with my new to me GT this month!

Wow. I now think I really did get a bargain on the Strad.

I heard from a mate of mine today who had a p/ex price on his BMW 530d touring of £13750 against a new X3. I told him to try WBAC and they offered £15700 online so off he went expecting a reduction here and there. On inspection they offered 16k. Bizarre times in the car world. I think prices will drop back come autum though.

WBAC quoted a price, a keen seller turns up for the inspection knowing what they always do and they up their bid…….. bizarre times indeed!!!
