It happens. I did my biking. I sort of miss it but not enough to have that discussion with Mrs C

C
I'm in the same kind of boat not having a bike since leaving NZ 3 years ago.
Had a 40 year stint with dirt and road bikes but still get the little voices in my head :)

That Vtwin is a different animal to a *** engine
Shut the throttle on my 1198 and it stands up mid corner!

The one I'm looking at is an 800cc V twin and only 75 horse power. It's supposed to be a very good first bike apparently. But as I said I have borrowed a 250 Kawasaki just to get my confidence in the mean time . I have no interest in killing myself by running out of talent in a corner.

Cracking bit of film that.
A bit of Wanderer in there too.
Crazier up north.
I reckon 100% Japanese bikes as I know all mine were and the cars 99% British.
What a crack we had back then :)

The camaraderie in them days was everything especially in the sports moped/250 days. How I wish I could go back in time.

I have a Kawasaki KH250 triple that needs some restoration, the youngest daughter has asked could she help so another project might be getting kicked off

I had a S1C which had a KH250 front end as it had previously been wrote off, loved it but dropped it one night taking a bend too fast.
Me at the front sitting on the tank.

I pulled my old Ducati out today and drained off any evil petrol. I filled up the tank with ethanol free and let it run for ten minute to purge the fuel system and get oil around the motor. It’s currently in storage and I don’t want that ethanol **** causing any problems.

Interested to hear thoughts on the how sensible it is for me to get my bike licence.

I've been watching 'The Motorbike Show' too much lately and really fancy a 50's/60's classic bike for general pootling, I am however nearly 52 and haven't ridden since I was 19 (mainly offroad) - is this a sensible option?

The Mrs says that as long as my life insurance is up to date she's cool with it (how nice!)

I’ve always hankered for one of these. Alas a metal hip and knee joints like a giraffe mean I have no chance.

It’s a great idea!

That’s a lovely machine and spot the styling cues, lost on its successor the 999, and regained on the 1098
My plastic tank will swell on E10

The tank on my Daytona 955i is also susceptible to swelling and is also filled with ethanol free. It really is a bad business this E10.

Assuming you lot know about bike insurance.....
Heres' my problem. Bought my cousins' 1965 Vespa 125. Background: Its been stood for 20 years after having a (quite poor) restoration done in Ireland in y2000. Despite that it starts & runs, looks ok. Anyways thats not my problem. This is:
Finally got V5 off DVLA, so its officially British registered now. BUt my problem is insurance.... Haven't run a bike legally in the UK ever..... (had 'field' bikes in my youth till local plod/my Dad put paid to that) and have rented bikes on holiday. Thats it for my track record. Car license since 89 however. Clean. Fully intend to do my CBT so can ride it. But wanted insurance ASAP so at least covered for theft. Put it through go compare..... One quote at.... 10 grand!!! For a bike valued at 2 grand!! Next to try was Carole Nash on phone (as they list as Classic Bike specialists...) after 30 minutes of BS and waiting..... No Quote! and they cant even tell me why they wont quote! Anyone know where I can go with this?
