It's a technology exercise, remember Mrs Benz took ten hours to do 66 miles.I think the Roma is stunning and would have one in a heartbeat of funds allowed.
And the Alfa.
Can someone tell me the point of the electric 4x4 thing? What a waste of time and money.
Is it me or is it just an ego trip for the rich? "oh look how green we can be driving an electric 4x4 rally/race car in places where climate change has had a serious effect on".
Green my ar*e! lets see the carbon footprint of the car, and without all the green washing of offsetting its carbon footprint by planting 10,000 trees.
I cannot take Paddy McG seriously. He Shouldn’t be on TV, let alone Top Gear, unless he can pronounce Aston Martin properly. Astin! I ask you.....
Was you at the show where it was staged outdoors besides the cars?To be fair to Paddy on the filming day I attended in August '20 out of the 3 presenters he was the most willing to acknowledge and interact with the audience. He walked through and said hello to a few people including my wife and I. He seems to be putting it on quite strong for the video'd bits - it is all so scripted that you can bet he has been told to act like that.
When the cameras stopped rolling the other two became totally introverted and acted like the audience were an inconvenience. Of course it makes sense with Paddys background in entertainment while Chris H is a motoring journalist and Flintof is an athlete
Agreed. However, I enjoyed it as always. If you don't treat it as a serious motoring programme and just entertainment its great. Bit like Chris Evans "Carfest" vs e.g. the Sliverstone Classic meet.I cannot take Paddy McG seriously. He Shouldn’t be on TV, let alone Top Gear, unless he can pronounce Aston Martin properly. Astin! Jenson Button is one of the drivers of these things in the race series, he was extolling the virtues of 'electric cars' in the trailer I saw, saying 'electric is the future' suddenly went off him then !I think the Roma is stunning and would have one in a heartbeat of funds allowed.

The Extreme E Odyssy car that Freddy drove was an interesting bit.
I found it interesting in particular because they plan for the Rally series is that Hydrogen cells will be used to recharge the cars between stages.
Begs the question if the future of E cars is going to be a hydrid vehicle where hyrogen cells are used to recharge the batteries on electric cars which would get round the charging infrastructure problem and solve the issue for houses where an off road charging point is not an option.
Im sure it more a problem of making the hydrogen charging cells to be small enough to fit in a car and produce enough power.
It was all tosh... lets get back to talking benzina, especially V8's!Yes, that was interesting and you make a good point.
One of the issues of hydrogen is its volatility, meaning that tanks for cars are expensive and bulky. But if you have a big fuel cell that charges it negates that and the need for big grid upgrades.
That Alfa looked impressive though, especially in green... see how it stitched that AM thing!enjoyed the emotional eddie kidd tribute on Sunday, must admit was welling up seeing him in that condition and the tribute was superb, rest of show was tosh, mcguinness and flintoff really get on my tits
I liked the episode also. A mix of cars, stats, competition, humour, recognition and emotion.
I also like the current presenters, admittedly I was unsure how Flintoff and McGuiness would be, but whilst they aren’t hardcore petrol heads, they do appreciate vehicles and appear to be themselves. Harris however plays the stooge and looks most uncomfortable. He is by far the biggest petrol head of the three, but I would prefer him to be less “pantomime”.
