I am no expert at all, but without seeing it in the flesh, looks like the screen is damaged?
Does it have an HDMI or VGA output? If so, you could plug it into a TV or monitor and see how it displays on that.

Your cats curiousity may have killed the laptop.After some advice. I stupidly left my laptop open, which one of the cats decided to sleep on the keyboard! Don't laugh. I have done a restore, checked drivers etc. but I still have a flickering white lozenge shape over the desktop display. View attachment 114169
