Enzo..............You are a gentleman!! Thank you for your very kind offer which I will take up if you are sure. Do you want me to PM you my address or has Matt not yet sent them?
I will pay the cash into Matt's account when I get home..........Thanks again Enzo. IOU1

should have asked if your near MK area or if passing ? not sure about posting these as could be expensive.

I will discuss with Matt (via PM) on best way to do handle this (hopefully you just pay Matt) but will update you later - also want to make sure I will get a full set back...

Thanks again Enzo. I have PM'd you my address before so you should have that. I have also PM'd Matt with info but not had a response yet. Just let me know the best way to go after speaking with Matt. Posting from Matt was £30 which I was going to pay anyway...... Cheers!

For those who are waiting, I have chased them up yesterday and am waiting for a reply as they are a couple of weeks over now.

Hi Matt

Any news on when the new batch of discs will be arriving?

Hopefully not, but I may need some soon.

Thanks, David

How worn do your discs need to be to get an advisory at MOT....or is it at the discretion of the tester..?

I spoke to Apec just before xmas and didn't hear back. I'll chase again next week but they are imminent.

Minimum spec is stamped on the disc. I imagine close to that would be discretionary. Anything under is going to fail. Could be wrong though

Minimum thickness might be stamped on the disc but usually the backplates, calipers etc. obscure this and MoT testers don't take the wheels off to find the value (they aren't allowed to remove any parts) - all cars are different and even some aftermarket discs are different again, the aftermarket rotors on my bike actually started life thinner than the minimum thickness of the stock items so it's not easy to ascertain the minimum thickness. Instead, I believe brake checking is limited to a simple visual inspection of what the overall condition is with particular reference to leaks, flexi pipe chafing, corrosion and the overall efficiency and balance of the brakes according to the weight of the vehicle as defined in a lookup table provided to MoT stations. Obviously if MoT testers can hear "metal on metal" or see a brake wear warning light then that would mean trouble but getting out a micrometer or calipers to measure disc thickness is not part of an MoT I believe.

Bit of background reading and it would seem that if braking efficiency is satisfied, even discs below the minimum thickness wont necessarily fail..!
I think it makes sense that discs arent measured . A visual for scoring and a ridge might be obvious...but go along with the above.
I wont read too much into it I reckon. I know how worn they were 2K miles ago, and was really just following up that they noted them as an advisory (for wear ) - thinking feck me, they wear fast !
I'll pop the wheels off and have a butchers...!

Grtzz...

EDIT: Which prompts me to ask if anyone cares to proffer a guesstimate at average life expectancy for front discs on a 4200..?

I have experience of this, mine had an advisory last mot for corroded rears (on the inside)but because it passed the efficiency test they couldn't fail it. I did wonder how it passed when I took them off lol

At the moment only half the stock is pre sold so no plans to do another until these are sold.

If you want some, grab them while you can as things change and there are no guarantees there will be anymore.

Also Apec have added a price rise across the board so the next batch will go up.

I will think about it, it's a bit complicated for me given my particular situation right now.
-It's not my car, it's my dad's, an'd I don't have much money right now
-I live very far and I come home maybe once in a year, often less, I just came back one week ago so next time will be in a while
-I'm the only one who could install the disks, so if I were to purchase them right now it would have to wait until next year.
But I'm definitely tempted, I'll see if and how I could arrange that!

Any idea what would be the price for a full set of 4 disks + shipping to France?

Thanks for everything you do for the community :)
