I could never fathom out the UK governments reluctance to insist that people wear masks, when the rest of the world were! Then they relented and joined in on recommending them, then later making it mandatory that “ face coverings” be worn in certain areas, not necessarily masks. Almost a year on I would not be surprised if they insist on masks being worn everywhere, even walking outdoors, yes, almost a year later, let’s see. They also went out of their way to make the general public embarrassed or guilty if they wore anything more than the basic surgical mask. Maybe that was due to the fact that at the time they were struggling with even providing adequate PPE to front line NHS. Now almost a year later, I will not be feeling guilty, nor should anyone else wearing an N 95 or N 99 mask, what ever keeps you safe. The Government has had long enough to ensure that by now NHS staff are provided with the best PPE. (Ha Ha). But tomorrow you will still see people in the supermarket with a rag wrapped around their face, just to meet the basic mandatory requirements, or as we have all seen prior to the lockdowns, pissing it up in the streets, or out shopping with no masks, or social distancing at all. Irrespective of which party is in control in the UK, their biggest enemy is the general public, and that is why lockdowns are necessary. Sorry, didn’t intend to making that into a rant.
I think they were concerned, rightly so, that there wouldn't be enough masks for front-line workers if everyone had tried to buy masks at the time. I was due to fly to Australia and New Zealand just before the first lockdown and I masks were on a 10 week delivery. So saying, making up ******** stories that masks are ineffective hasn't helped in the long term, either for this governments credibility nor for some of the general public's reluctance to wear masks.

That’s what I said, there were not sufficient masks and other PPE at that time, and I think most people at the time realised that, it’s now the best part of a year later. If procurement and supply of the correct grade of masks etc have still not been provided to the NHS it’s a big deal that needs explaining, if they have, then it’s not a problem for for you or I to buy and wear whatever we want to. In fact right now I think it’s necessary to do so.

Being a typical man I'm always late to present a point that could have won an argument. (oh I wish I said that!)

But if Derbyshire police claim that a cup of coffee is a picnic, then a pint of beer must therefore be a 'substantial meal' in itself.

Evidence in the link below.

I have noticed that the BBC Web news seems to have an ability to pluck all the young attractive women for articles, but ignore ugly ones unless its crime/death.

It’s a generation thing, they were all brought up with mobile phones. They spend hours and millions of selfies to perfect looking attractive. Where as our introduction to photography was being forced to stare into the sun for half an hour while your Dad took one photo on a 35mm compact. And then told you off for squinting “but it’s BURNING MY RETINAS”!

Amazing isn’t it....
1. MP travels the length of the country knowingly carrying covid....takes a 3 month investigation to charge her.
2.Prime ministers aid travels the length of the country for an eye test....no action..

My take is, if we all exercise in the streets round our houses we are more likely to come into contact with each other, I think a journey of 5-10 mile is acceptable. I’m lucky, half mile walk and I’m basically free of suburbia...

10 turns to 12, 12 to 15... and on an on.

If its exercise, driving to get there is not exercise... including driving to go for a cycle ride, climb a hill etc etc.

There are at least two aspects of the stay at home to consider:
  1. to stay away from each other
  2. to reduce accidents and the strain on the NHS
If you recall in the last lockdown A&E was very quiet and I am sure stats showed car accidents declined etc.
That said, we do drive 10mins to then go on an hours walk in the countryside.
People need to be sensible, and that includes the police.
I think in the case quoted the local police have said they will review their policy on the matter.

Thought instead of walking out the house and along the river we’d walk though town instead. It’ll be quieter, everything’s shut. Nothing like it. M&S, Poundland etc all open, people carrying along like it’s a normal Saturday shop. And where the **** has all the dog poo come from?

Normal in the media.
There is the annual Telegraph front page: "Pretty Girls Get A-Levels".
Also I remember when some lads got kidnapped in the Andes, the Telegraph ran a front page that was basically "Kidnapped Backpackers Have Pretty Sisters"

I see someone has brought out a beer called substantial meal. Could also work well for expenses claims .
Definition of a picnic is taking a meal in a beauty spot.
If coffee now can be construed to be a meal.
It follows that next time the pubs open all you need is a coffee with your pint..for it to be a meal.
Bonus...

And where the **** has all the dog poo come from?

Don’t get me going on dog poo, owners seem to think it’s ok to leave it on pavements and foot paths or worse pop it into a plastic bag and then hang it on a bush.
At least once a month I am on dog poo cleaning duties removing it off some shoe or boot !
I have to admit I look at all dog owners with suspicion as some of them must be guilty.
‘kin distrusting and antisocial !

Post lock down you will see less poo and more abandoned dogs on the streets... the number of idiot friends I know who have bought a stupid '...poo' dog and have no idea how to look after them apart from watching TV... one back at work and the animal is trashing their apartment they will soon be up for sale.

Already seeing a larger number of ..."It is with a heavy heart" adverts on the puppy websites.
