Just watched a short clip randomly popped up on FB. That super car blonde girl.

It was the Lotus Evija. Quite a good looking thing.
she sat inside and said let’s start this up (she was being genuine). She pressed some red button and absolutely nothing happened. But that was the car started.
she then drove it at a walking pace around a car park silent as can be.

And you know what. It was genuinely genuinely sad to me

60k for 620 miles , fast charging and tesla performance , I don't think 2030 is going to be a problem if the battery technology is at this point today

UK new car sales are normally in excess of 2m/year so the National Grid has just 9 years left to accommodate an increased load of that magnitude, and the SMMT figures suggest that a new Nio at c£60k is not going be affordable for the average buyer. Yes I know that increased volumes will (or at least should) bring the price down, but I doubt that will be sufficient for everyone to jump in.

If they do try and export them outside of China I can see the tariffs being very high

If they get that kind of range / performance into a 30k Nissan leaf competitor , an everyday electric car with a 600 mile range , free tax and no petrol to buy

They'd decimate the European car market

Yeah, because China never lies. About anything. Ever.

But
Given that every new car sold in the UK needs to be either hybrid or full electric by 2030, this is the only way they can go. Indeed, for once Maserati might actually be with the curve, as opposed to way behind it!
But what about Hydrogen power?

This is also depressing from BMW. It may actually make you want to throw up.
Ultimate driving machine seems not to be too pc with the current management......

Maybe but what else will get you to 62 in 3.9s for 60k

The new tesla model S is pushing 140k , if they can get 500 real miles out of it and that performance for 60k I can see them being top of the CEO car list
