Does anyone have a robotic vacuum cleaner?

Given my penchant for automation (read laziness) and a current requirement for a new vacuum, I think it may be time to combine the two. We have hard floors throughout. Anyone got one they like / recommend?

Cheers

Well Christine, our cleaner, may not have the most exciting personality... But I can't really say she is robotic...just dull.

I don't but my sister has a roomba 900 and loves it. like you all hard floors on ground floor mixed boards and ceramic. her only regret was not getting the robot mop as well but says that is to follow.

I've got a Samsung one , it's OK to go round and pick up crumbs etc but it's nothing like as good as a normal cleaner

We've got a shark lift away and it's very good

Buy a Neato.

They are methodical
Work brilliantly well
Hasn't broken in years
Amazing at picking up cat hair.

Roombas among others bounce around the room at random. Neato maps the room then hoovers it in lines.

Love ours, it's part of the family!

Ours is pretty old now. We've got, I think, an Xv Signature?

There's a massive pistonheads thread on this same topic and a certain Neato model is recommended

Neato Botvac.

My learned friend is spot on. Ours is brilliant and also part of the family. We missed him (see!) when he needed to go to the Botvac hospital to have a sensor replaced.

Both you and your learned friend have expensive tastes. I'm wondering quite how lazy I am

Often refurbs on ebay.

But, I wouldn't buy different brand. The Dyson is a rip off, and like all Dysons will no doubt break s its made of brittle plastic.

(i don't like Dyson products, in case that wasn't obvious. The Dyson fan was also a waste of money, sounds like I'm in a flight path, and the thing the fan tried to "solve" - buffeting - actually helps cools you. Pointless. Looking forward to the Dyson Tea Pot, it'll be made out of chocolate)

Oh, if you don't think they're constantly watching you, then there's a Xiaomi one that's got great reviews on PH as well and seems to operate in the exact same way as the Neato Botvac. It's considerably cheaper.

They're worth it. Ours is a good four years old and although he's a bit scuffed and scraped still works as well as new. Also, he's pretty good at clambering over door-treads, getting into corners (and getting out again) plus cleaning and maintenance is a doddle. Do it.

It's like MumsNet for blokes.

A lot of divorce chat, a lot of house renovation chat, holidays, shares, xenophobia, anti-xenophobia, wine, cigars and mostly second hand expensive cars...oh wait, that's here! ;)
