Been busy doing up my French house and learning to be a house husband as Ms French currently the bread winner.
Need to sell my UK house which will make life a lot easier.
Really want to play with my Renault 4 and make it a sleeper.

Lots of jobs completed!

New badges all round
Fix glovebox light
Interior LED bulbs fitted
Complete replacement of the Auditorium stereo system with Focal items.
Fit X pipe
Repair passenger side easy entry seat function
Replace door/ window microswitches and adjust windows.
Replace broken passenger side window (oops)

....and the 2 most recent additions which I'm most pleased with!
Fit Larini backboxes (might be a bit too loud now)
Re finish tatty seat backs in Argento Luna. Really chuffed with the way they have come out, but many many hours work!

Oh, and repaired a horrendous water leak on the "reliable car" parked next to it.

My list was mainly snagging jobs on the SZ which was delivered back to UK just before lockdown and is now stuck there. Brakes replacement on the Fulvia this week and then book both it and the Giulietta in for Irish registration which hopefully I have planned well with proof they were brought into Ireland before the 31st December, fingers crossed

Brakes are desperate on fulvia, when released from storage rear calliper was seized on, a quick tap released it but it is certainly binding

Dunno if you've done the import thing before but if you need any help give us a shout, done a few. It's quite seamless we found. UK MOT will count as NCT (if it needs it, probs exempt) and you should be able to get them on black or red plates. Customs (not Garda) are the ones to watch, they'll insist you must have registered the vehicles within 30 days of their entry into the State and fine you. They did it us with the Mrs' Pug., knocked on the door at 7:30am and threatened to impound the car. Issued her with an on the spot fine of €250 and told her to sort it within 7 days. And despite her having the car in UK for years before - customs guy said she'd lost the right to VRT waiver and at the NCT station charged her €450. She did take piß though, Gards stopped her three times on yellow plates and shed been on those 18 months!

I had the Maser over there nearly two years but cos I was on temporary contract from a (my own) UK company I got away with it. Got stopped twice, once to check for bombs underneath the car and once on Sheriff St Lower on way to work, just got asked general questions. Think they suspected I was part of the Kinahan gang....

Thanks for the offer but should be OK, we have done both the RR and BMW plain enough really both personal imports so no VRT. Fulvia & Giulietta both have ferry bookings in last 30 days to prove entry date and as over 30 years old have classic VRT i.e. €200 each. Both will get classic ZV plates as there are no stipulations on size or indeed colour unlike the year dated plates like in use these days which have strict size rules none of which will fit where the original plates go.

When we officially bring the SZ in that will be more difficult as it's not 30 until August this year and if the revenue continue to apply rules on UK cars like they are doing now it will be 10% of value as VRT plus VAT as 23% although the VAT is currently being challenged because if the car was purchased originally in the EU VAT will have been paid and therefore can't be charged again. However as the SZ has the registration SZ 9136, if we change the plates to black they will look very similar to classic plates and hence might not draw such attention especially in Co. Wexford where things are a bit more flexible than in Dublin. We can also argue as being English and having a UK address that it is our UK car and that we only bring it in for the summer show season fingers crossed but we will see.

To be honest all 3 have been here for over a year and have been on UK plates and we have not been stopped, even the BMW which I was driving in and out of Dublin every workday for 5 months on UK plates never got stopped.

When we brought the Porsche over in 2019 to France we had to start the import process within a month to be legal as residents here.
Annoys me that many Brits are driving illegally here and think they are doing nothing wrong.

There must be some sort of leeway, in Arlon Belgium where I live there are French and Luxembourg registered cars all over, used by frontaliers I guess. Parked outside the same house each day...

GTS: MOT done last week. Sailed through. Not much to do on it after AV completed all the work highlighted at the PPI. Still contemplating H&R lowering springs. Will have to change discs & pads all round at some point to Zep’s uprated option. Probably this year depending on when we are ‘allowed out’ again.

360: Going to AV this week for some minor issues post engine rebuild and refurbishment. Have asked Aldous to remove all sticky parts in order to send them off to Roland.

Garage: Removing staircase to the upstairs annex next week. Can then finish first fix electrics and plumbing, finish plaster boarding and then get it plastered. Install storage cupboards, sink, washing machine (missus doesn’t like the dirty car cloths, towels etc going into HER washing machine - apparently they stink!)
Paint garage and fit 15 LED ceiling panels. Tile floor with anthracite porcelain floor tiles. Hang posters, network speaker, WiFi booster and bring in a few chairs and a table for post car waxing relaxation! Might even hang a small drinks cabinet on a wall ;)
Outside of garage, fit brick slips to rear wall to match the front and the house (currently red brick)
Prep for garage extension that will house the new staircase for the annex above it.

Shed: Fit cement board to outside walls. Fit brick slips to match house and garage. Build small garage with up and over door for the robot mower and hook up to electrics in the shed.

House: A few minor jobs to do, missus has a list..

Wash, drive and fill with petrol is all I have done to the GT in the last 6 months (other than fit winter tyres in October).

VW GTi has been in for a service and has been cleaned and driven a few times.

Both kids cars (Suzuki Swift & Toyota Yaris) have had full services, new brakes and misc. work to keep them tip top condition . Also spent a fun filled weekend changing door and boot seals on the Yaris.

TR6 - all fluids changed, plugs, new bonnet spring, LED lighting and a couple of new injectors fitted. Am also in the process of refurbing some ARE Le Mans alloy wheels and will be looking to upgrade wiring loom so I can install the heated seats and hidden audio.

Vespa - full service.

MV Agusta - swapped wheels around (summer wheels are RC wheels with super sticky tyres) and cleaned.

Pushbikes have had gears indexed and tyres pumped up .... and then put back into the garage.

Lots of jobs around the house and about to embark on kitchen and bathroom projects.

Where do you get your Vespa serviced? My brother owns Vintage Motor Scooters.

I like to work on all my cars and motorbikes myself unless they are in warranty but this is becoming increasingly difficult with modern cars. It's what I love about the Vepsa and the TR6 - pretty much everything can be worked on by a half competent home-mehanic.

Well if you need anything more intricate or are interested in buying old GS models and such, here’s the Facebook link https://m.facebook.com/groups/vmsri...ctivity&notif_id=1611559096864356&ref=m_notif

Or lookup VMS of Facebook. It’s a private group but some of the renovations and upgrades he does is quite amazing.
