    Fuel flap won't close

Really annoying this one. Went to fill up. Flap opens. Fill up. Strange clicking noise from filler area while fuelling. After filling, flap won't stay closed (clasp seems to not work so it just pops open again). Look at filler open button in glove box... and its stuck in. Won't pop back out, so...

    4200 / GS springs

Will probably change my springs for new. They're a bit corroded (MOT advisory) and obvs near 20 Yr old, and I I usually find that new springs are a nice thing to do. So 4200 and GS springs are same part. Mines a late 4200 with a few GS features like Grille and wheels. Thinking of doing the...

    4200 / GS Shockers

Apologies for repetition? But this subject started in the PH guide thread and I thought worthy of its own thread... So I'm thinking of changing rear springs because back end seems too loose and wallowy, a bit bottom-outy even, with people in the back. This got me on to thinking about shocks...

    Bodywork recommends, in the North.

This for the mini, as it happens. But I know you lot have high standards. My own go-to was always Surface & Design in Blackpool, (exTVR factory) and Malcolm who used to work there. But S&D sadly didn't make it through covid shutdown, so I'm now looking for another top notch bodywork place, and I...

    4200 fuse box

Just noticed the fuse box. It's hanging down at an angle and almost touching battery at one edge. But it seems fairly solid in that position. Doesn't easily want pushing back up, or back. Surely it's not meant to be like this and should retract somehow?

    The CD changer

Long time members will remember my ongoing issues with trying to get a decent Bluetooth/ DAB set up in the 4200. Anyway I won't bore you all with that again... But I have a related question. In trying to add said adapter above, I chose to replace the CD changer input plug (back of NIT unit)...

    E Scooters

I f'ing hate them. Becoming a real problem round here. The youth modify them and are regularly seen blasting down the pavement/ cycle lane, and worst of all, middle of the road... saw one other day, 30mph Road, middle of, overtaking & undertaking all traffic, no helmet, obvs no insurance (you...

Window not doing its little drop when door opened

Now this is a really annoying one. As title says. Driving along yesterday when the window did its little drop, all by itself. Door handle not touched. Door definitely not opened. Put back up manually. Then it does it again,a few times while still driving. Get home. Try open door. Doesn't...

Removing A pillar interior cover, 4200

I'm having another go at fitting a dab thing in the car... I know it's been epic and still not there but hey. What I want to do thus tike is remove the interior plastic padded trim piece from the A pillar. I've been reluctant to do this because my pet hatred is things like this, that once...

    Wet feet...

So I put the hammer down on a motorway today, and with the rock back, my left foot got wet :-( Very wet. Like full cup of water poured on it... And, found wet in passenger footwell too. The dreaded heater matrix?

    GS ride height vs 4200

Quick one. Does the GS sit lower than the 4200? If so is it just on different springs to cause this? Or any other suspension differences? I have half a mind to lower my ride height a bit.... would like springs anyway as mine a bit rusty (05 face-lift)

Le Mans Classic 2022 and Mad Friday at Arnage

Am off to this, this year (Finally. Been booked for 3 years due to the obvs. Going with non-Mas mates.) Anyway am staying on the Travel Destinations “glamping site” thing at the circuit. Never been to either LM or LMC before. Fancy witnessing the mad Friday at Arnage thing. Is that a thing at...

4200 Face-lift, fitting DAB/BTooth in lieu of CD changer

As title says. I've bought a Pure Highway DAB / Blootooth thingy. (Had one before on a different car it's very good). For background it consists of an internal stick-on screen aerial with a tiny little box that also sticks to a screen. This attaches by wire, in normal cars, to the aux input of a...

Car revs itself a bit at idle... Sometimes

Anyone know what this is? At moment it's only occasionally but it revs itself a bit when it's meant to idle. Only a bit mind, maybe 1000 rpm up and down at the most, from normal idle speed. And annoyingly, not all the time...

Best place to sell a car privately (not Maserati) / experiences of

Trying to sell the wife’s mini. 2010 cooper S. Anyway, after many years of using autotrader to buy, but not sell, put it on there. After 3 weeks, not one single call... which has surprised me. It’s priced at 4300, when equivalent dealer cars are on at 4800-6k. Mileage average 86k. V well looked...

    Coil springs

So the MOT threw up advisories for corroded springs on the 4200. Not a fail, but still, as I like to keep the car tip top, am considering changing them anyway (front and rear). What sort of money do they cost? And should I be looking at aftermarket of some sort, as an improvement? I remember...

    Silverstone Classic 2021

This is back on after last year's hiatus. I usually go, got tickets this year but will be first time on Maserati club stand, so might see some of you there. A question for regulars, because I can't remember. Is there a deadline for getting on site if you are putting your car on a stand? Like...

    Rolands' Sticky Buttons work

Guys, I don't normally plug stuff, but just had some buttons done by Roland of Sticky Buttons. The result is exceptional; I would say better than new. The finish is now 'soft' but not rubberised, so won't go sticky, but in shade its pretty much the exact same as original. Very impressive and I...
