Hi Colin, no problem to send you the stickers. I don't seem to be able to private message you though. Do you have an option to 'start a conversation'? That way we can communicate privately. Andy.

    Thank you forum

Thanks. Nothing on the horizon yet but I always like to have a project so it probably won't be long!

    Thank you forum

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone on this forum for giving me the courage to buy my first Maserati. It may have now just gone to it's new owner but if it wasn't for the knowledge and help available here I would never have bought one in the first place. I'll check in periodically to keep on...

Soon to be (I hope!) a 4200 owner!

Glad you got back OK and enjoyed the drive James. Good to meet you and hope you thoroughly enjoy the car. I'll send the usb stick with the resto photos after Xmas. Cheers.

Soon to be (I hope!) a 4200 owner!

From cold 2nd is a little notchy but it only takes 5 mins of running and it's fine. If it's a hot summers day then I don't think there was any notchiness (is that a word?) The cables were changed before I bought the car so, unfortunately, can't tell you. Rebuilding the gearbox end linkage was...

Soon to be (I hope!) a 4200 owner!

Hi Jamie, Glad you like it, I think it looks pretty good too. I'm not sure the best way to communicate privately without putting an email address here for the world to see! I don't know how long or how many posts you need before you can PM. The forum owner @conaero may be able to shed light on it?

Soon to be (I hope!) a 4200 owner!

Obviously I'm biased, owning a manual, but since I've refurbished the gearbox end linkage with new bushes and bearings (along with recent gearchange cables and oil change) the change is light and slick. A decent Cayman is a fair bit more to purchase and they do have a 'slightly' fragile engine...

Soon to be (I hope!) a 4200 owner!

Jamie, As requested, some photos. Let me know if it's of interest, if so I'll type up info regarding all the work done, mods, service history etc. I would like to get around £11500 for it if possible. Andy.

Oh yes, forgot about that PM limit. Firstly the car is high mileage, 104k miles. This doesn't bother me as I find a well used car is often better than a garage queen. Also I don't feel guilty about adding miles! If you search on here for my posts there should be some photos and some details...

Soon to be (I hope!) a 4200 owner!

I have a facelift manual I've been considering selling. Can't make up my mind whether to or not. Drop me a line if interested. Andy.

Hi Paul, That's good news. Any pics of your hard work? Andy.

    Subframe rust protection

I used Lanoguard as well. Jet washed the underneath first, then let it dry. Wire brushed and rust treated where required. Then a liberal coating of Lanoguard which is messy to apply but safe on everything under the car, wiring, rubber etc. I think the theory with it I that it soaks into any...

    Sticky buttons sorted today

Thanks Paul, money received. I'll try and get them posted tomorrow. Regarding the laquer I applied over the stickers, I used Autotek matt laquer. Although any matt automotive laquer should work. As you've painted them black already, you won't get illumination at night. If you want that then...

Hi Paul, Yes sorry, I sent you a PM yesterday. The envelope icon should have an alert next to it. If you open that message it tells you what to do. Cheers, Andy.

    Lanoguard

Forgot to mention, I also took off the wheel arch guards and sprayed behind them. As they are protected by the guards I think they wouldn't need re-doing for some years.

    Lanoguard

I sprayed Lanoguard on my 4200 last year. It's quite easy to use, although obviously quite messy. I bought cheap hooded overalls which can be chucked in the bin after. It goes on nicely and seems to creep well. It darkens any lighter rust areas but this allows you to keep an eye on any areas of...

    Plenum & Valve cover refurb

Thanks chaps. Yes fairly pleased with the outcome. You're quite right about being careful with the shot blasting. You don't want any shot getting into the engine, hence the extensive masking. Thinking back, I'm sure I used the pressure washer on them before degreasing.

    Plenum & Valve cover refurb

Thought I'd show a few pics of the refurb I did a little while ago. It may help someone. 1. Plenum and valve covers removed. 2. Plenum disassembled. 3. All parts carefully shot blasted. The internal surfaces and open holes masked to prevent the shot getting on the internals. 4. Degreased prior...
