Ok, not in the midlands, but Joe Macari (Main Dealer) in London charges £480 plus vat for full geometry checks and adjustments, so that's a very similar price...
An indi with the proper equipment will charge around £350 (plus vat) for the same...
There are also various tyre fitting centers / etc, with hunter or equivalent 4 wheel alignment machinery that will charge far less.
you pays your money and takes your choice as they say...One thing I would add is that its best to go somewhere that is recommended.

Why is it so much on the GT compared to other cars?

My 3200 was £390 back in 2007......Always has been a few pennies to get done.

Thanks guys... yes I have been purchasing a few bits of Jo Macari, I have found them very helpful and if more local then would have used them without a doubt. Just as long I know I am getting value for money and not my pants down I do not mind :).... They did say they spend over an hour on each corner, also doing a recall on the rear track rod arms which they are replacing. Perfect time for some new tyres I think! Hopefully get it back later.

Bill McGraths charged me £30 for the QP.

They quoted an hour (£60) but because they took slightly less than the full hour they only charged half.

Granted they don't have the latest laser equipment, they do it the old-fashioned way, but I trust them and judging from the in-depth discussion we had about recommended versus real-world toe-out for the QP they know their onions.

The car handles much better after their attention and I'm getting even tyre wear. I can't see what the other £470 would achieve.

I was going to say: I can't see what the other £470 achieves unless you really like the main dealer's coffee that much then I remembered Claire made me a lovely cup of espresso while I was waiting.

They are extremely well regarded
Took my Alfa GT to them a couple of years ago and after they'd worked their magic the car was night & day in comparison. That was just £60; the Maserati is more because of the shims.

I got my GranTurismo done for about £100 when I first bought it, the same company done my R8 and Vantage prior to that. They have an all singing all dancing Hunter machine, it makes a big difference to the handling, £599 is just taking the ****, it takes less than an hour to adjust all 4 wheels, even less if they don't all need adjusting, the company I use charge £30 per wheel or £100 if all 4 need adjusting.

Did you use Wheels in motion or someone else?

Thanks

We only have one company north of Edinburgh who can do it properly and i have had the full monty done three times now, first time was only a quick check and was 190, second time i had all the shims checked and although i loosened all the adjustments it still cost 5-600, i think the recent set up 2 months ago was 400 ish. So it depends what is out of adjustment. If your car is set up ok and its only the front tracking thats out yes it can be done in half an hour. If you have had the subframe off or been messing with suspension arms and you need to change shims it can be a lengthy process and garages charge by the hour. AS for doing it the old fashioned way this just means you are ignoring rear tracking, caster and camber setting, which if you have no reason to believe its out might be ok, but don't confuse this for actually checking and setting front and rear, and caster camber and all that, and adjusting it if its out.

As it turns out, there is a slight bit of play in steering rack so they cannot do the tracking anyway.. I had my brakes bled as they have to do it on diagnostics with there software and they replaced an acceleration sensor for suspension (£400) going to look at where the play is in the rack, get that sorted somewhere (not at there £2700 quoted price) get new tyres all round and tracking done same time somewhere. Thanks for the feedback..... Chesham is not that far from me 90 minutes, may give them a call.
