09 QP V Body construction materials

Hi All,
I've been looking around trying to find without much luck, a brochure or technical bulletin that describes the material make up of the Quattroporte. I'm fairly certain that not all panels are the same material, but wondered if anyone had a spec or an idea as to what material the key body components were.
I'm pretty sure I've worked out that the front nose and rear bumper are plastic obviously, but was wondering if there is then a mix of alloy or steel among the other panels. Is the bonnet plastic too? The boot I know is metal, is it aluminium or steel?
Doors, wing/roof/shell?
I'm interested to know so I can consider to what extent it would be worth having a corrosion treatment applied at some point............ and I'm just interested too anyway :)

Thanks
Ian.

You needn't worry about corrosion on the bodywork anytime soon, but a good coating of Waxoyl underneath wouldn't go amiss as the front sub-frame especially is prone to corrosion.

Thanks Ewan, yes I'd seen in another thread that the front sub frame was vulnerable.
Wondered if there were any other box sections or double skinned panels that would be worth treating too - rear wheel arch/door shuts for example?

I think the bonnet is aluminium....The only corrosion I have seen on my bodywork is on the wing mirror supports which are some alloy and was going to be £700+VAT to sort out so I passed.....QP Face lift does not have this problem as the supports are plastic. Oh and there's a slight bubbling on the inside edge of my boot lid around one of the inside holes. Other than that, I've had the underneath waxoyled so fingers crossed.

Bonnet definitely seems very light, I think the boot might be alloy too though.

Get a small magnet and test the panels...if it sticks it rusts.
Haha - sounds like a plan :)

Yep. I spent some time making a small magnetic 'GB' sign for my trip to Ireland, only to find that the darn thing would not stick on.

Funny I had the same issue with L plates on my daughter's VW Up! - it's all glass and plastic - had to go for a sticky set ..agghh!!
