18,000 mile service

Hi chaps 18000 mile service coming up on Gransport

How much can I expect to pay from main dealer??? and should I be replacing lamda sensors at such a low mileage. Car is running perfectly

No need for lambda change....got mind done at 56K miles.......and 8 years old!

Expect to get robbed.......if MDing it...other wise use servicemycar to batter them down

Hiya Frank

I have been hibernating but was at Xmas do and missed seeing your gorgeous face

I really need to have an idea what HR Owen are going to try and tap me for this bloody service and what would be fair. The car has never run as well as it dos right now

I know an indie would be less but after having kept main dealer service history from new I wanted to continue along that line unless of course they prove to be ridiculously more expensive

MDs are capable of coming down to indie prices if they want to, UM. My local one does (although in fairness it does a discounted rate as part of a deal with Nuvola, where I bought my car. But it does prove the MDs can charge a reasonable price and still turn enough of a profit to make it worthwhile. Show them the servicemycar quote and let them match it. :smile:

My local main dealer quoted about double (uk) indi price. When I reverted asking if they could price match service my car prices they didn't reply, even after a follow up e mail. Given I have used them several times before and this time they phoned me in the first place asking did I want to book in, I thought the non response a tad rude.....

Looks like a wee trip to the main land by Easter as it is the 43.5k, so won't be cheap.

Thing was, Frank, they have price matched annuals before, so can only assume the drop to match for the 43.5k was too much. All they had to do though was politely decline to match; good manners if nothing else.

Will give you a shout in a month or so, as I know you have made the UK service trip many times and would be keen to pick your brains.
