I somehow missed this was up for sale.

Shame you have to sell, I would be all over this if I wasn't buying a house (which seems to be going on forever........).

Good luck with the sale.
Thought you were building one.....sorry Phil...

Having one built on a new developement. However, it's taking too long and we're think of pulling out.
Only problem is, hey have our deposit.

Normally we wouldn't have a leg to stand on, however, with Covid-19 we have a get out of jail card which our solicitor is looking into.

Yep. We've exchanged, hence they have our deposit.

Ours was due for completion between June and September 2020, then October 2020, then December 2020, now April 2021.

I think supply of materials is the issue.

Ironically we might be doing to work with a brick maker. They normally churn out 40% of the countries building bricks, but that have been producing only between 30% and 40% of the normal amount of bricks since April so you can see the knock on effects of that.

It's in our solicitors hands, so will see what she comes up with. She seems confident that we can pull out and get our deposit back.
Who knows?

I know you said they have your deposit but we take £1500 deposit before exchange so assumed you meant that.
I have had buyers pull out after exchange as the new comp date does not work for them so it should be easy for you to get out.

That's the theory. Normally in the contract you have a contingency or worst case scenario date (30th April 2021 for us) that the house must be completed by.
Because the completion date is within that, in theory we shouldn't be able to get our money back.

However, Covid-19 has given us some exceptions. That's what our solicitor is working on.

There's a surfeit of cars for sale on the group at the moment. Great deals one and all!
