2 years ago today Dan started the first thread, Catman started last years so I'm stepping up to start this years.

A quick recall to my first stats posted for 2019:

6' 1 1/2" 54 years old 21st 9lb or 303lb or 137kg

Two years on and I'm almost back up there at 21st 6lb just 2 years older.

In my defence I'm a bloomin' sight fitter than I was then as I've done a lot of kayaking and shifting bulk about into muscle from lard. This year however I will need to get the weight off again whilst keeping the muscle in shape.

Who's with me?

I’m 52, 5ft7 and this morning I weighed 11st, 12&3/4 lb.
I haven’t been 12st since 94 when I was in Bosnia and doing a lot of weight training.
I went for a 30 min walk/run this afternoon. Can’t do it too often as the metal hip doesn’t appreciate it.
I need new cycling shoes, Wife dropped 5l of gloss on my old ones, oh, and my loakes and grensons.
So tomo I’m going to get some new cycling shoes and get my bike serviced.
Off Alcohol for Jan at least - been kicking ar5e out of it, I believe my diet isn’t too bad.
I’ll check in every now and then.
Dave
And, I think we are all with you Newton....

Good man, Newton! I was toying with it as (to quote Punch) 'The winter months have been particularly kind to sir', in my case. Christmas indulgence, and no teaching!

But 150 miles is the challenge for the bike this month. My intention is to be back to figures by close of February, latest.

I’m in. Again.
For 2020 my goal was to end the year 1 stone lighter than I started it. And I’m pleased to say that I managed that.
Now I just need to do it all over again, and lose another stone. Then I’ll be perfect. ;)

It’s my bank balance I’m more worried about, but I have put on 3kgs since all this Covid stuff took hold. 5’9” 73kgs. I want to be back to 67ish, then I’ll be back to when I was 25. In 55 right now.

And for the record, this time last year I was 85kgs. And 10 years ago, I was over 100kgs.

I was wondering if there was going to be another one of these, and am definitely in again.

I will weigh myself tomorrow morning, but I suspect I will be around 86kg (after a December of indulgence) which is 10kg lighter than I was at the beginning of 2020.

For 2021, I’d like to get to under 80kg initially, and then stay there while building up a bit more muscle...

I am in again - why not

Last year was a bust until August until I had to do a site visit and put on my work cloths for the first time since March to find that nothing fit around my waist. This motivated me to start seeing my wifes PT who really whipped me into shape in the last three months of past year and I have no plans to stop seeing those sessions so lets see where it takes me.

Jan 2020 81.6kg
Jan 2021 74.9kg
Height 6'0"
Age 34

This year I plan to step up the amount of cycling I am doing as my legs are much stronger now and I find that cycling up hills or maintain speed for long periods of time is much easier making cycling considerably more enjoyable. I am currently planning a road trip to Morzine to hit up the MTB parks in late June for a week and then head into Germany or Italy.

Diet wise I just need to keep a lid on the amount of take out I have and continue to avoid beer/wine and sugary mixers - after a month of relative glutany I welcome taking a break for the sauce anyway.

Best of luck to everyone with their goals. Try to stay motivated and disciplined - if you struggle then do what I did and pay someone to do it for you.

@JonW my PT covers the Guildford area if you want her contact let me know

Age: 39 (til the end of the month:confused:)
Height: 6ft
Weight: I don’t actually know my weight because the scales are broken (honest!) - new Bluetooth compatible scales that can measure body fat due in tomorrow morning so will update after they arrive. The last time I weighed myself would have been in November when I was 86kg.
Never had a problem with weight or body shape until I woke up one day in my late twenties and my belly was noticeably more protruded than before. Have had many half arsed attempts either focussed on diet or exercise but never both. The first lockdown prompted me to start running (I hate running) and I was doing quite well with it til the weather turned in the autumn and I caught Covid. Thankfully out the other end and have signed up to a 3 month free trial of a fitness app called Fiit, (think gym classes on your phone) did my first class yesterday. Hamstrings calves and arms are all aching this morning. Goal is to lose the belly and hopefully shift 8/9kg. Little brother is getting married (tiers dependent) in April so there’s a bit of added pressure to get into some sort of shape by then.

What's that in real money? ;)

49 years and 360 days, 176cm, 78.8kg. Own Hair (not dyed!) and teeth

I iused to be 70kg but I think 75kg should be an achievable aim.

Incidentally the NHS website puts my BMI (Yes I know) range as 58.6kg - 79.2kg. But they state:
Your health would really benefit from gradually losing just 5% of your current weight. The best way to lose weight is through a combination of diet and exercise. We've got lots of resources to help you lose weight safely. If you're concerned about your weight speak to your GP.

Aim to lose 3.9kg

So I'd go along with that.

Right then - starting position for me in 2021 is:

Weight - 87.3kg
Body Fat - 25.4%
Lean mass - 65.1kg (so 22.2kg of fat)
Body Water - 51.3%
Visceral Fat - 11.5
Blood Pressure - 124/77, pulse 59

In 2019 my starting weight was around 92kg, and in 2020 it was 95kg. As previously stated my goal is to get my weight below 80kg, and then find ways of staying there whilst slowly switching fat for muscle. Target date is 25th August, when I will hit the big 50!

I’ve decided to do a dry 90 days, and will be keeping up with the cycling on Zwift. I‘ve also started doing at least one weights session a week, and one focused on core / stretching...

Good luck to us all, and hopefully this thread can help keep us motivated and accountable.

48 years and 360 days
170cm
78.4kg
Own Hair (not dyed!) and own teeth (though not all of them, part of my aggressive weight loss plan)

I also used to be 70kg back in the day but Rimmer's sampling at the beginning of Carter's Surfin' USM is regrettably spot on.

Another "[y]our health would really benefit from gradually losing just 5% of your current weight. The best way to lose weight is through a combination of diet and exercise."

Aim to get below 75kg and my indoor rowing challenge for the year is 1,000km.

My 2020 wasn’t kind to me. First year for me having treated myself to a maserati only recently.
6ft 83kg
I was down at 78kg last January and pretty happy with where I was.
Hopefully I will get a summer holiday with the family this year so would love to shift some fat and get down to the 78kg level again and see if I can hold it off.

Certainly wishing you Guys all the Best in getting to where you want to be.
For me at 58 and 6 foot 2 inches I'm back at 90kg but don't seem to get much below 89kg these days.
My GP says I'm healthy.
Just wish I could get rid of the little stomach bubble.
Getting back into doing some regular work will help.
PS got plenty of my own in coloured hair and my own teeth.
