3000rpm rattle/vibration inside dash on QPV

In the search to find my vibration noise within the dashboard I pulled the centre dash console/radio to see if I could spot anything. Obviously plenty of cables to tie up, but apart from that I found one of the ac ducts to be a little loose where it joins the ac unit. There is no sponge to seal it so will be tie wrapped. I also found this bar between connections to the rear vent pipes highlighted in the picture. I assume it closes off air to the rear vent but it is loose as in it rattles around and moves loosely up and down. It is highly likely this may be the issue but should it be loose, be up or down, or sprung loaded/controlled?
Anyone ever seen this or had their hands on one to know how it should be. Eurospares images no help unfortunately.

Which is the bit you’re talking about? The flaps are inside the heater box.

The channels to the rear and floor look like this.

Looks like it links the left and right flaps together. Is it still attached to both?

Thats it. Still attached but just flaps about ie. no control mechanism. I wonder if airflow just pushes it open

That’s what I thought too but makes you wonder it’s purpose.

If you tape it up to confirm it’s the rattle can you get to it easily afterwards?

Thats the plan. I am thinking taped up which in theory is vents open. Bit of a guess really.
